I am pretty sure once the resources start flowing in, and the population gets up, it moves quite a bit faster. I'm already noticing that I have to upgrade a lot more often. Also - you are going to want to check your messages - the top right game icon. Sometimes you'll get a message like "upgrade X thing to level 3" and you get resource shipments for doing that..which helps a lot

I'm sorry to drag this back off...but you are looking for an ultimate goal of a 3/3 on the dlpt? I don't know of any jobs that are interested in anything less so it makes me wonder about your time table. How long do you think this will take. I know of a few good resources that it is possible you are not aware of.

Yyou can use your gold to boost production. It is in the plus section.

I'm not sure yet - there may be a way to do it once markets and trade are established, but I don't know. I kind of suspect there isn't, as I've noticed there are no advertisements, so I guess that's how they make money. You don't NEED gold to play, but it's kind of a convenience thing I guess. I thought about buying 100 gold just to keep the "plus" thing going, because it tells you a time when things can be upgraded, and lets you have a queue...which seem valuable..and for 6$ you could have all that stuff for like 2 1/2 months straight

lol..damn, i never thought this many of you would have signed up. we're going to have a hell of an alliance..too bad so spread out - but later on you can establish villages in other places...so that may not matter as much.

Well I didn't see a place in the signup where you can specify what coords you wanted. All i saw was pick a quadrant, and me being an idiot didnt really stop to try and figure out where you were lol. But I do like the game, its nice to log in in the morning and have some more resources to mess around with.
At this point my village has 18/30 people. Pulling in 11/17/11/12 respectively. Built a Embassy, Granary, and Warehouse. I would do more but my I've used most of my resources =-(. Gotta wait for em to get back up.

lol definite boredom at work here. At work all day, had to go to my gf's sister's play and then I got work at 7AM so I cant go out. I got an embassy, my name is eclipsor, set up an alliance. This works for me, I can go on there every now and then within 2 minutes gt everything done like checking my mail.

As far as I can tell it happens at random intervals when you complete the objectives - they'll send you a message in your inbox saying to "level a crop to lvl 3" or some such thing..do that, and you'll either get one big shipment, or like 3 spaced out smaller ones
