- WRXtranceformed - 04-17-2007 Here's that piece of shit: ![]() - CaptainHenreh - 04-17-2007 Looks like the two weapons were a .22 pistol and a Glock 9mm, but I pretty much called the Glock. No word on whether he had hi-cap mags or not. So tragic. ![]() - JackoliciousLegs - 04-17-2007 Ross Abdallah Alameddine, Saugus, MA, 20 Jamie Bishop, 36 Ryan Clark, 22, from Martinez, Ga. He's pretty broken up about it. Its amazing how close to home this hits. - Ginger - 04-17-2007 Don't attack the kid's parents because he was a nutjob. There are plenty of incidences where it's nobody's fault except the person that comitted the act. Really, I'm sure his parents are more mortified by what's happened than we are. We don't put criminals' families in jail - there isn't a static correlation between child rearing stance and predictable criminal behavior... saying that there is reflects a pretty scientistic attitude. - JackoliciousLegs - 04-17-2007 Let's not judge anyone here. No one knows his mental state, or his parents'. Normal, "well" people don't do this. Cursing his image helps nothing except our most primal urges. We should be honoring the people that woke up yesterday, went to class to try to learn to be productive members of society, and were taken so heinously from this world. We should honor those that became heroes and gave their lives for the sake of others. We should thank the law enforcement that did what they could to stop someone who obviously had no qualms with taking his own life, and no respect for others' human rights. - Sijray21 - 04-17-2007 he's from the centerville area, but i really hope his family doesn't get harrassed over this, as many ignorant and angry people would do to his family. I agree with andrew that his family is also pretty shocked by this tragedy. ![]() - Maengelito - 04-17-2007 Sijray21 Wrote:he's from the centerville area, but i really hope his family doesn't get harrassed over this, as many ignorant and angry people would do to his family. I agree with andrew that his family is also pretty shocked by this tragedy. unfortunately, his parents will probably be harrassed enough by ignorant and angry people to move back to south korea, i would assume. this is gonna set us back a little bit though. can you imagine the shit storm that would ensue if this kid was middle eastern? - Feersty - 04-17-2007 Whoever changed the banner, that was a great idea. We must support our fellow Virginians and Hokies. - NTIman - 04-17-2007 You can't blame someones parents for everything. Certain things come from raising a kid poorly, but murdering 32 people is not something that should be put on the shoulders of parents. You can teach your kids right and wrong, but you can't just change the fact that someone is psychotic. - Steve85 - 04-17-2007 Feersty Wrote:Whoever changed the banner, that was a great idea. Indeed... if only the fuckers in the showker lab would have shut up at 2:00. - Goodspeed - 04-17-2007 Apparently this guy wrote some disturbing plays in his english class that were peer reviewed, and some then knew that he was disturbed (including faculty) and yet they didn't alert any counsellors or police, even when they suspected he could be the school-shooter type... Here are the plays, they are very strange and graphic http://newsbloggers.aol.com/2007/04/17/cho-seung-huis-plays/ This is just like Columbine...the killer(s) showed disturbing behavior that suggested something was brewing but no one acted on it. I don't feel sorry for this guy or have any remorse for him, he did kill a lot of people but it could have been avoided if these students alerted someone - Ryan T - 04-17-2007 From what I've read the school was notified and he was referred for counseling. He also had run ins with the administration for lighting a fire in the dorm and stalking a few women. - Ryan T - 04-17-2007 Goodspeed Wrote:This is just like Columbine...the killer(s) showed disturbing behavior that suggested something was brewing but no one acted on it. I don't feel sorry for this guy or have any remorse for him, he did kill a lot of people but it could have been avoided if these students alerted someoneCould it really though? What could they have really done? Counseling obviously didn't work, at least not in the short term. What other repercussions are there for writing 'excessively creative' plays? They can't really do anything to him for that. Now the fires and stalking are a different story, but not so much for the writings. On the same page I bet if you went through all the people that wrote plays in the classes he was in for the past five years you could find at least a few other plays that could be considered dangerous literature. HindsightÔÇÖs always 20/20 and foresight doesn't mean much if you don't have definite proof that he was planning something. - Goodspeed - 04-17-2007 Thats true....and hopefully this will be an example of reform, its just a case of what do you do with someone that is mentally unstable? You're the psych major so maybe you can answer, but do you medicate the hell of them or put them in an institution or what? Its a shame if someone slips into psychotic/homocidal behavior like this for whatever reasons, but when it has matured to his level I think action should be taken instead of beating around the bush with counselling and "feel good" talk. A person such as him in an environment such as a college campus needs to be removed immediately if they show signs of "school shooter" behavior. And if our system was really good, a police background check would show someone is in counselling for stalking/setting a fire/disturbing behavior and they wouldn't be allowed to purchase a gun. I know this is all so easy to say after the fact but this time I really hope we learn from this, after all it was the worst shooting in American history. I think America as a whole could benefit a lot from actively trying to reform society rather than practicing and preparing for the worst. For example, I'm not for metal detectors and bag searching on college campuses, but I am for delinquent behavior being treated with immediate expulsion. People need to learn that anti-social/dangerous behavior will be met with equally strong punishments before they can become a further danger to society - JackoliciousLegs - 04-17-2007 This guy was obviously not worried about expulsion or any other sort of "strong punishment." In my mind, there's only one way to prevent incidents like this, and this thread is not the place to discuss it. I'm starting a new one. - LorenaBeana - 04-17-2007 I feel badly that I don't remember their names, but I wanted to make sure that all our CCVT buddies are ok. I know a bunch of them are engineering majors. - Feersty - 04-17-2007 During tonight's candlelight vigil my brother in uniform was standing next to Governor Tim Kaine, if anyone finds any photos or video please post them here. |
