- Maengelito - 06-28-2006 Dave Wrote:quick update. The fuzions that I had are roasted (I hydroplane regularly at street speeds) so I bought some cheapy Sumitumos for Summit.. Also replaced the blown rear shock, so it will actually handle like a normal car hopefully. Linds is driving it in HPDE 1 at the Hizzy Fizzy, and then it will be slowly overhauled towards being more of a SRX cup car than a street-track car. Dropped it off this week for a rollbar install. Hopefully getting some harnesses and coils soon, and have bigger sway bars sitting in the garage (was hoping to install before Summit, but don't want to install them without any time for Linds to get used to them) coincidence?
- Dave - 06-28-2006 you're awesome, that's definitely a keeper for later. And thanks for the compliment, although I hope I don't look that geeky. - Feersty - 06-28-2006 Dave Wrote:you're awesome, that's definitely a keeper for later. And thanks for the compliment, although I hope I don't look that geeky. you did when you posed for the picture with that downpipe... - ScottyB - 07-01-2006 Feersty Wrote:you did when you posed for the picture with that downpipe... no man can look geeky in that pose when the text says "krazy dave sez: Evan's mom loves big pipe!" - Dave - 10-26-2006 well, this hasn't been updated in a while, so here's whats new: 1) end of august, I replaced the front bumper with a "pignose" bumper from a 90 240 that I got at a junkyard. It's uglier, but the bumper cover, foam insert, and metal bumper total cost me ~$80, so I'll deal. 2) beginning of October, I did the first actual tune-up since I've owned it. Replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor with Nissan or OEM equivalent stuff. Didn't really feel any faster than it was. 3) tracked at last NASA event at Summit. This car has never felt so good. Maybe the tune-up helped, or maybe the car and I were in-synch that weekend, but it drove flawlessly and actually felt FAST :gasp:. Not really sure where this car is headed just yet, but I love it. So far, it has 1,386 miles on the track, and has been pretty much trouble free in all aspects. I'll put up some pics before too long. - Feersty - 10-26-2006 That is awesome Dave. Is w2w racing a goal of yours or just instructing? - Dave - 10-26-2006 frankly, I'm planning on running in Time Trials next year and possibly instructing. However, I'm really looking into running in the SE-R Cup, whether it be in an SRX car or an ITA prepped car, potentially by end of the year. - Dave - 01-04-2007 it should be noted that with the purchase of the 240Z, my plans have changed a bit for this car. It has been sold to Lindsey and will serve as her HPDE trackslut from now on. I will probably occaisionally take it out and have some fun with it, but it will be almost exclusively hers. I will however be continuing the maintenance and upgrades on it, which means this thread is not dead, just evolving. The car is still going to be moving towards ITA prep, and potentially SRX depending on how fast Linds wants to go, as she moves through the HPDE ranks. - PDenbigh - 01-04-2007 Woot! Girl racers are cool ;-) - Feersty - 01-04-2007 Yah, its so awesome to hear that Lindsey is so gung ho about driver education! - PDenbigh - 01-04-2007 Feersty Wrote:Yah, its so awesome to hear that Lindsey is so gung ho about driver education! Lol, you've never met Lindsay huh? Trust me, she's not in to "driver education." She's in to driving fast and raising hell! - Lindsey - 01-04-2007 shwing. seats and harnesses are going in later this month, as well as a turndown off the exhaust, YAY! sounds like fun for VIR in Feb.
- WRXtranceformed - 01-05-2007 Dave has corrupted the mind of another fine young woman with the grandeur of going fast. Even *I* wouldn't want to get on her bad side. - Dave - 01-11-2007 changed the tranny fluid, replaced the thermostat, changed the oil, and finally replaced my washer resevoir (bought it at a junkyard like 6 months ago :-) ). This is definitely the easiest car I've ever worked on, I hope the Z is this easy .
