- Apoc - 10-19-2006 Is there a "money's not an issue" option that some might be interested in? I prefer to keep my camping to camping trips. - .RJ - 10-19-2006 JohnC Wrote:Yes. What are we doing about the camping situation? Reserved up next to the track is $275 - that would be my vote. Split 6 ways thats only $45/each. Rent a minivan or something to get us there? +1. I'll buy the camping ticket - maybe i'll go over and sit down with G when they go on sale and we can pick the money spot. Apoc Wrote:Is there a "money's not an issue" option that some might be interested in? Yeah, a $300/night hotel room. Have fun with that... - Apoc - 10-19-2006 .RJ Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Is there a "money's not an issue" option that some might be interested in? No point in workin' for my money if I ain't gonna spend it. - .RJ - 10-19-2006 Well, I spent less on the whole vacation (5 days?) than it would cost to get a hotel for 3 nights. <-- waits for joke about spending 5 days camping with 6 dudes in an RV - Apoc - 10-19-2006 4 guys, 4 nights = $300/person I don't think that's anywhere near outragous. We're all big boys and make big boy money, time to start spending it. I'm not going to argue the financials of it since we obviously have different perspectives of money worth spending... just throwing it out there in case anyone else doesn't mind dropping the coin. - .RJ - 10-19-2006 Apoc Wrote:I don't think that's anywhere near outragous. We're all big boys and make big boy money, time to start spending it. Spending it isnt a problem.... ![]() That stupid dancing elephant in my garage solves that one easily. - Dragon - 10-19-2006 I'm down for camping and doing what I did last year. Karting the drunks back to the track after a night out on Cannery Row so they can stumble back to the campsite, driving back to crash in a friend's hotel room, and then using our vehicle pass to drive them in the next morning. - JohnC - 10-19-2006 I'm camping. So, I was checking out minivan rental prices - ~$350 will rent a van from any of the major companies (with no discounts applied - I know I get one from work, I'm sure many of you guys do too) for Thursday (9/19) through Monday (9/23). As for airfare - I'm seeing about $350 roundtrip per person to Oakland from Dulles. The times are really shitty though - hopefully they'll list more flights as things get a little closer? Thats using Priceline. I'm sure the "name your own" would knock it down a bit more. Jetblue is only booking out as far as June at this point, so I don't know about that. Edited because I confused San Diego with San Jose - I really meant Oakland. - .RJ - 10-19-2006 Why not fly into LA instead of SD? - JohnC - 10-19-2006 .RJ Wrote:Why not fly into LA instead of SD? Dammit. I was thinking San Jose but typing San Diego... I'm an idiot. - .RJ - 10-19-2006 JohnC Wrote:I'm an idiot. Quoted for posterity - Apoc - 10-20-2006 Someone explain to me why you'd fly to Oakland instead of SJ? - G.Irish - 10-20-2006 Apoc Wrote:Someone explain to me why you'd fly to Oakland instead of SJ?Cheaper. - JohnC - 10-20-2006 Apoc Wrote:Someone explain to me why you'd fly to Oakland instead of SJ? Cheaper, direct flights. - Apoc - 10-20-2006 Ah yes... forgot who I was talking to. FWIW, there's a non-stop from Dulles to SJ for $393 on expedia. Thu 21-Jun-07 Washington DC (IAD) Depart 6:09 pm to San Jose (SJC) Arrive 9:03 pm Duration: 5hr 54mn UA Flight: 241 Mon 25-Jun-07 San Jose (SJC) Depart 7:15 am to Washington DC (IAD) Arrive 3:30 pm Duration: 5hr 15mn UA Flight: 240 - .RJ - 10-20-2006 Apoc Wrote:Ah yes... forgot who I was talking to. Well we're not staying there so it doesnt matter one bit where we fly into, IMO. I'd like to wait for the JetBlue bookings to open up, and I just figure we should all get on the same flight again - that worked out really well. - Apoc - 10-20-2006 .RJ Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Ah yes... forgot who I was talking to. In that case lets fly to Vegas. - .RJ - 10-20-2006 Apoc Wrote:In that case lets fly to Vegas. 10hr drive? No thanks. - Apoc - 10-20-2006 ...but you can get laid! I'm prolly out for the same reason as this year anyway. Even if I could adapt to your traveling customs it's very likely I would be getting back from a 2 week vacation only 2 weeks prior. - Evan - 10-20-2006 fence |
