Sure they had weapons, but I'd hope a Marine would be able to take out a group of teenagers if he had to... otherwise I'm switching countries and taking all of my tax dollars with me. - Ryan T - 06-01-2006 ScottyB Wrote:Myuki Wrote:also, i doubt the marine had the intent to kill either, like you said. all he had was a pocket knife for crying out loud. Probably not, but when your in the marines, from what I've been told by friends who are marines, they put you in a "kill or be killed" mode which can often be difficult to shake after coming back from service. - Evan - 06-01-2006 Myuki Wrote:if it was killing intent, he'd be dead after he kicked the first gun, if he even kicked it succesfully. if they wanted to kill him, they would have shot almost right when they got out of the car, and not flash around the guns. killing was not on their mind. anywho.not necessarily true. victims get shot all the time after they give up their money/belongings to the attackers. Just a few months ago a kid got robbed of his North Face jacket, he gave it up, then got shot in the head. A guy I know got robbed this past winter, and they still beat the fuck out of him. Same group of thugs that killed the Wash Post reporter. Never mind that the DC police are racist fucksticks who accused him of being drunk and wouldnt call him an ambulance....thats another matter entirely (but it doesnt piss me off or anythin gjust thinking about it....) - JustinG - 06-01-2006 WRXtranceformed Wrote:I think that dude is pretty badass for what he did, and I applaud him, but weren't all of his assailants around 17 years old? Dude about 75% of the kids i went to HS with looked like they were 35 yrs old my junior year, granted they could have been?? - Jeff - 06-01-2006 Hunt For Red October Wrote:It was the fucking cook! - G.Irish - 06-01-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Hunt For Red October Wrote:It was the fucking cook! I get so sick of the " hand it over" mentality. Go Marine! - Goodspeed - 06-04-2006 Just read more about the incident... Apparently he stabbed the girl because she jumped on him, and after he stabbed her, the other kid with the handgun tried to shoot him, but the gun misfired....so he kicked it out of his hand then stabbed the shit out of him  I love this story - damnit458 - 06-05-2006 So he *should* have died, or atleast been shot, but because the gun misfired he kicked it out? Still a good story, but takes away a little of the wonder out of how he managed to disarm two people before they shot him. - G.Irish - 06-05-2006 damnit458 Wrote:Still a good story, but takes away a little of the wonder out of how he managed to disarm two people before they shot him. It still wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that one guy disarmed two guys with guns with a knife. Someone who is trained in knife fighting at close range against untrained thugs could easily win that one. But yeah like you said, somewhat less impressive. - Dave - 06-06-2006 so, been out of the loop awhile, just catching up. I love stories like this. It shows that our soldiers are being trained well. In defense of the soldier, I doubt it was intent to kill as many of his assailants as possible. He probably noticed they were children and intended to simply disable them and defend himself. I'm not so stupid that I would jump on a person weilding a knife and not expect to get seriously fucked up in the process, but it's unfortunate that she died (as stated before, natural selection is a bitch). Maybe more people will read this story and decide not to go in a life of crime for fear of coming up on a person and their number being up. - G.Irish - 07-10-2006 Just to further illustrate the point that even if you cooperate you may still get killed in a robbery: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 00215.html Not to say you should try to fight the attackers every time but don't make the mistake of assuming they won't hurt you if you play nice. Be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to fight and kill others for your life if necessary. |
