Just get a continuance. It ifs your first one odds are you can do it over the phone. Call the court and tell them you will be out of town on business and they will most likely give you a new later court date.

i dont want a new and later date! i want to have the 75 in a 55 reduced because she paced me... a fairly inaccurate way to record speed... at dusk :p if its a 15-19mph ticket that i dont have to go to court for... i'll prepay that and the damn speedo crap.
the object is to get reckless off the ticket and put it behind me... btw dont feel too sorry for me... at some point i need to learn my lesson... being a dumbass is different from being a jackass... but you still get tickets ... just call my grandpa from now on.

May 11th... which happens to be my birthday. 9:30am ... general district court. but i'm planning on wheeling and dealing before then. i will conceed i was speeding... i cant refute it, i didnt have a speedo... but since she nailed me right at 20mph by pacing... i want to get it reduced because of accuracy. I'd also like to have the speedo thing dropped all together.

Did she give you a ticket for the speedo? You're not required to have a speedometer in the state of VA... that's why I haven't fixed the bike's yet.

so you have one ticket for malfunctioning equipment? I'm sure you can get can just get it fixed, say you were not aware of the speed you were traveling and might even get that knocked out.
either way, who's leaving today or tomorrow morning? where are you staying? i might be in need of a place to stay/place to put the bike if i ride down tonight.

You can't be charged for non-required malfunctioning equipment. They can't charge for you for an A/C that blows warm air. That one's going to have to get dismissed.
Sooo... since you don't have to get the speedometer fixed you can come to the car show.

If you need to, I dont have a roommate and im in rockingham hall so there is tons of parking. I have an extra bed you can crash on, yes a real bed, and if there is a real need I also have a footon(sp?) in my room also.

i DO need to get the speedo fixed. if they hard ball me i need to show the judge i was trying. i've been calling around to find a dealer with the part and a shop that had receipts that has room for me. besides the fact that i'll be at work until 6-7pm. I have a lead... we'll see if i can dig up the part.

I got a malfunctioning equipment ticket on my way to danville when my speedo was broken. cop was actually nice about it. It was a cheap ticket and no points, all prepayable
