- JustinG - 02-15-2006 agreed....i love the MR. would like to have the power windows and doorlocks though. - ultimagtrlover - 02-15-2006 Ryan...ya'all????? You have been in the South too long now! Hahaha, Evo 9, hehehehe, that's our next test driving mission! "Oh, Mr. Salesman, what's that psst sound coming from the engine, it's so obnoxious!!!!" hehehehe. - Rbadboy21 - 02-15-2006 lol, Ciro you're a funny guy, I must say. "So bob what's this think supposed to do in the 1/4" Salesman: "umm you know I am really not sure of that answer, but if you want I could give that info...." "Oh nevermind all that statistics mombo jumbo Bob, we'll just take it to the local drag strip and see what she'll turn" But yes, and MR I must drive, I drove a 03 Evo, wasn't all that impressed, mostly b/c my test drive sucked, it wasn't that long, I didn't get a chance to get a feel for the car. Oh well, next time! ![]() Ryan - ButtDyno - 02-17-2006 Rbadboy21 Wrote:Correction: I spoke w/ my brother concering his car and he gave this information on his car: w/ a 1/2 tank of gas he had his car weighed at 2650lbs. (he doesn't have power steering, A/C, and obviously the stock exhaust weighs a lot. Also stock weight is 2789). He also informed me that w/ water injection (doesn't have yet) he would be able to run 17-20 psi (421 rwhp +) on pump gas. With these numbers and slicks he should be able to get into the high 10's, trapping around 127-130. This is not unheard of b/c my brother has seen it done plenty of times w/ these numbers. Guys w/ 350 rwhp Rx-7s have and are capable on high 11's passes. This is made possible b/c the 93+ Rx-7s came stock w/ a 4.11:1 final drive ratio, allowing for very quick acceleration. That was probably the R1, not the base one. But yeah, I want one too. But with an LS1. That rotary's bound to pop eventually, so might as well sell it while it still runs. john - Rbadboy21 - 02-17-2006 John- yes, the rotory's is prone to craking/blowing apex seals. Unfortunatley the rotary engine is very finiky in tuning and maintance wise. A lot of people have no idea how to tune/modify/maintane these cars and this is a big reason why these engines (particulary turbo charged rotaries) end up blowing an apex seal. Also the rotary engine doesn't have near as much history or R+D that the piston engine has. Also piston engines are prone to blowup too (when heavly modified/bad tuning), the only difference is w/ a pistion engine you most likely will have to replace a lot more items than on a rotary. And you are usually not able to drive it after you blow up. Ryan - ScottyB - 02-17-2006 an LS1 FD is literally my realistic dream car. all the goodness of American muscle, with the perfect japanese chassis. i would just feel bad taking that rotary out though, its such a cool engine. |
