Who is building it for you? Or, dare I ask, are you doing it yourself? Confusedhock:

Of course I'm doing it myself, I don't let ANYONE else touch my car!

Yeah, did you get the valve fixed on your tubing bender? Found a good place to get the tube?

Parts should come in tomorrow, I found some tube locally, cost more than via the 'net but don't have to pay shipping! Its about 40'! Confusedhock:

Chad, are you going to do the welding yourself?

- white_2kgt - 01-19-2006

Why wouldn't I? I slept at a Holiday Inn last night! I borrowing a buddies Tig setup, pretty sweet rig.

Well the cage is sort of a critical thing to have 'right' so I'd think you would trust the welding to someone that's been doing it for a while. I'm just paranoid about safety stuff sometimes.

I'm getting a certificate from a local community college, does that count?

I got "certified" in Arc, Mig, and Oxy welding while I was in HS. We're going to warm up on some flat pieces before hitting the tubes. I've used a TIG once and it wasn't terrible. From what I understnad we only have to cut throgh the body in a couple of places to get the 360 degree welds.

If! IF?! Well! Try WHEN buddy! Looks like you just got bumpped down in the line... ;-)

- .RJ - 01-20-2006

Cut through the body? If anything you can remove the glass, but thats as far as I'd go.... although all my glass stayed in for the cage.

Well, the welds around the A and B pillar's are hard to get 360* welds on, Most people just cut access holes in the roof. Once we are done we wil just weld the piece back in we cut out and hit it w/ some paint, I got this primer that almost matches my color exact! Windshield is coming out b/c it is cracked and needs a replacment anyway.

Got a little more done today,

Got my Driveshaft and Safety loop in,

The list getting a little shorter...

- .RJ - 01-20-2006

You ought to be able to get the welds done 360* with the windsheld out.

RJ - not a fan of hole-sawing body panels.

we'll give it a shot, I'd like the tubes as close to the body as possible, which may prevent that

I can snap more pics of my cage if you like - its tight on the body, and the windsheld didnt even come out for welding.

- JustinG - 01-20-2006

"wash car".....haha figured that would be last on the list. Good progress.
