- G.Irish - 09-01-2005 Kind of like the tsunami, its just starting to hit home how huge this was. I just donated some scratch, I'm hoping my company gets together a funds matching program too. - Dragon - 09-01-2005 theguywiththeSi Wrote:and they're trying to help....i'm very dissapointedC'mon Jayray give the guys a break, if they don't hijack that bus they'll have no way to transport that flat screen they looted out of the area. I hope the national guard starts shooting back at the people shooting at them. - G.Irish - 09-01-2005 I think this is a very dangerous situation that requires a very large upfront response before it devolves into rioting and violence. The Nat'l Guard and Reserves are going to need to build up immediately to restore order so that the evacuation and relief effort doesn't give way to anarchy. Because once rioting and what-not gets underway its going to be at least twice as difficult to restore order. - Sijray21 - 09-01-2005 i also like how China sent us a LETTER...not funding of any sort, but a LETTER saying how they felt bad for us (heard this on the radio as i was waking up - helped me to wake up) I can't believe how large the damage scale this thing is....it is very sad and as soon as i get paid i'll be donating some money to the red cross. anyone want to go to Mardi Gras this year? It might be a giant bath party - naked wet b00bies!!
- G.Irish - 09-01-2005 Its going to be interesting to see how the foreign aid picture shapes up. On one hand, we are the richest nation in the world by a good margin so some countries are not going to help because they don't think we need it. On the other hand I think there is going to be some delay in response as other countries start to gain an appreciation for the magnitude of the damage. Frankly I don't think we can expect much from China since its not like they can offer troops or ships to support the evacuation effort. I'm thinking if we get any support it'll be from the EU countries and Canada. Hopefully we'll accept the offer of help from Venezuela as well. - Sijray21 - 09-01-2005 actually we are getting some support from Venezuela and the Middle East (believe it or not) in the form of oil barrels. They realize that our refineries in the Gulf have been hit hard and some are left unoperational so our gas prices are going higher due to oil reserves, so they are actually contributing increased oil barrel quantities to help the US keep their reserves at a certain level. I understand that not a lot of nations will probalby not help due to our financial status in the world, but i feel that they should be sympathetic toward our dilemma and realize how large of an issue this is for our country. New Orleans, Gulfport, and Mobile are MAJOR ports for goods coming into this country and now most of them are non-operational (example: Chiquita Banana's major distribution center is in Gulfport, MS that holds about 1/3-1/4 of all thier banana stock, and now that's ruined.) I just hope that this won't affect our economy for too long. Discalimer: i recieved this information from websites and news broadcasts :p - G.Irish - 09-01-2005 Satelitte image of New Orleans: http://www.digitalglobe.com/images/katr ... 005_dg.jpg - JohnC - 09-01-2005 National Guard scanner transcripts (kinda) - http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comment ... nk=1647609 Blogger in New Orleans - http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/ - Sijray21 - 09-01-2005 G.Irish Wrote:Satelitte image of New Orleans: hock:....

My house is right off St. Charles Ave. and up to 6pm yesterday is was the only part of the city that was dry. Since the pumps failed and the new break St. Charles Ave. would be under 9ft of water in the next 12-15hrs. My brother and I felt if we wanted to save anything we had to leave NOW. We loaded up flashlights, rope, our medical ID's, both our .45 Glocks, 2 shotguns and rode out. En-route we listened to the radio which broad casted all the news about the looters and what not, in hindsight it was a mistake. My mother didn't want us to go by dad who is a Vietnam vet told to be safe and "shoot to kill" if it ever comes to that. - Feersty - 09-01-2005
- .RJ - 09-01-2005 C'mon now. - Evan - 09-01-2005 im all about some racial humor, but thats just dumb - lillitnn92 - 09-01-2005 BLINGMW Wrote:hey good idea! Do they actually have a program set up for that, or is it just something you hope they do? not sure yet. let you know when i do. - lillitnn92 - 09-01-2005 this guy is blogging from his office building in downtown New Orleans. he's been talked about in the media. he never left, went there and has been at it since the begining. http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/ - G.Irish - 09-01-2005 Rob I'm glad you thought a fucking demeaning racist caricature was appropriate to lampoon people who are suffering through what will probably be the worst natural disaster in US history. You have now taken the distinction of the most fucked up thing anyone has said or done on this forum. - Mike - 09-01-2005 fuck... what did he post? - Sijray21 - 09-01-2005 Mike Wrote:fuck... what did he post? also wondering what he posted i'm out for 15 minutes and i miss it...? wtf - JackoliciousLegs - 09-01-2005 What's important is that he removed it. Once again, we have to be careful on this forum with what we choose to post because we not only represent ourselves, we represent the club as a whole. We can not tolerate any sort of discrimination on this board at any time and especially not a time a time as sad and mournful as this. These insults, although intended as jokes, can be truly hurtful to our members and can misrepresent the vision of this organization. As you all know, we have received emails from prospective members who have contemplated joining the club but were dissuaded because of the derogatory nature of an unusual number of posts in our forum. None of the moderators want to censor this forum and in a group as small and tightly knit as this, we shouldnt need to.
