The negative end of the support vehicle needs both terminals connected. Helping that person jump their car was just a pain to get the negative clamp on the Ridgeline's negative terminal. I have never needed to ground to the battery; doesn’t matter what vehicle is getting jumped. Maybe I’m wrong but I never had something go wrong yet. VTEC with a bed - Senor_Taylor - 10-28-2019 The point of grounding on the body and not the battery is to avoid creating a spark that can ignite an off gassing battery, iirc. Doesn't really affect the effectiveness of the jumping process. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk RE: VTEC with a bed - Sijray21 - 12-16-2019 Mileage around 5800 Took a 1622 mile road trip with my mom and almost 4-year-old daughter. Took about 15 hours each way including stopping, left Wednesday and came back Saturday (1 day of driving each way. Unfortunately my uncle passed away and he meant enough to me to at least drive that long with my daughter, mom, and take off the time from work to see him off; my family out there basically feels like a second close family. My mom and i had planned and booked flights to go this weekend to visit and his passing came sooner than expected, so we canceled those plans and drove instead. I took the child because my wife had to work and i thought it was important for her to see my family out there (as i did when i was younger and now i feel). The kiddo did amazingly well all things considered and now i won't hesitate to bring her on long road trips as long as there is someone else in the back with her during her younger years. She had a blast playing with her many cousins. The Ridgeline was fantastic, but i just can't handle long road trips like i did in my early 20s. I drank about 32-40oz of coffee and 24-32oz of redbull each travel day to remain as attentive as i could; the SW PA mountains at night with steady snow and wet roads in subfreezing temps were the most difficult part of the trip. The Lane Keep Assist combined with the Adaptive Cruise Control were fantastic to have. I also realized on the way back in subfreezing snow/rain/mist that the radar sensor on the front is either not heated or doesn't warm up enough to melt snow/ice and the features associated with that don't work when it's snow/ice covered (at least the system tells you that the features won't work). We pretty much maxed out the covered cargo capacity with gifts and luggage on the way there, so i'm looking at a Tonneau cover and tailgate lock to install sometime in the near future for some added covered storage. Time to change the oil for the first time. I've also noticed that Honda's mpg/range calculations are definitely lower than actual observations. Actual mpg for the trip was 21.189 mpg and that was mostly in eco mode (cylinder deactivation and shift point changes). 19.85 out (strong headwind most of the way, plus Chicago traffic at rush hour) and 23.103 mpg on the way back. Most of the travel was cruising around 80mph. RE: VTEC with a bed - .RJ - 12-16-2019 Minivan el camino! VTEC with a bed - Sijray21 - 02-12-2020 What's the record for revolving door debauchery? In the words of RJ, "I'm a Ding Dong" I've been looking for an out for a few months. It was sold to Carmax today at the lower range of private party values and sale prices I've been seeing. Picked up its replacement earlier in the day. Aside from some lost funds on taxes and registration the depreciation was about the same for both vehicles. This is also me trying to financially justify my decision. Let's be real; I lost some money. It came to a head when I started to get irritated with a lot of small things over time that I didn't think were a big deal initially. I started looking at its replacement (used obviously) and thinking how close their values were. The 2020 Ridgelines are also coming out and were sure to slightly diminish its value since it was improved enough to make the 17-19 RTL-E less of a premium. The Honda sensing, rear door checkers, infotainment were improved for the face-lift and the new transmission and hardware greatly improved the adaptive cruise and other amenities. All of which are being included on the mid and lower trims of the new Ridgeline. The other part was how it simply made me feel to drive it all the time. I drove the z3 as much as possible, but between rain (I need to find out where the water intrusion is happening), other lingering maintenance items I don't have time for right now, and needing to take the kid places I've needed to drive the Ridgeline. It was super comfortable, but driving the auto trans and lumbering suspension was incredibly depressing when I factored in the money spent. I found it useful on occasion and it could be incredibly useful if I used it more for what it was meant for, but as my main vehicle I've realized that I either need a vehicle that I'm passionate about or a beater-type vehicle. Poor decision in July. Paying for it now, but thankful my wife was on board with the decision. I've never felt better about getting rid of a vehicle. RE: VTEC with a bed - Apoc - 02-12-2020 Umm, lol? RE: VTEC with a bed - Jake - 02-13-2020 Congrats on the gray Dodge Grand Caravan SXT in your photo! Real talk, I hear you on the revolving door. I felt similarly about my Focus ST. Liked it but not enough for what I was paying for it. Hopefully the replacement is something you enjoy a lot more! RE: VTEC with a bed - Senor_Taylor - 02-13-2020 I think we can all relate. Glad we haven't lost you to boring adulthood yet. RE: VTEC with a bed - Apoc - 02-13-2020 Shoulda bought an F31! RE: VTEC with a bed - .RJ - 02-13-2020 Ding dong VTEC with a bed - rherold9 - 02-13-2020 I feel it. People always wonder why I got rid of the diesel. Get what you need, worth the money to you, etc. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk VTEC with a bed - JPolen01 - 02-14-2020 (02-13-2020, 08:48 PM)rherold9 Wrote: I feel it.
