- damnit458 - 10-13-2004 now thats the stuff
- Chris - 10-13-2004 don't sell the R... I really think its a great track car. - Mike - 10-13-2004 there are better track cars for the money. - .RJ - 10-13-2004 Not with better resale value
- Evan - 10-13-2004 ITR "resale value" = a check from the insurance company - Evan - 10-13-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:in a world in which money grew on trees, yes. when you find a wormhole to such a world, please let me knowYou missed the point. $13k FD is cheaper than RJ's ITR, so yes, FD > riced civic - Mike - 10-13-2004 you missed the point. fd track costs + fd maintenance + fd insurance + fd initial cost > itr track costs + itr maintenance + itr insurance + itr initial cost - .RJ - 10-13-2004 Hey evan, why arent you tracking the WRX anymore?
- JackoliciousLegs - 10-13-2004 but you can't deny the UNBELIEVABLE HOTNESS lol
- Evan - 10-13-2004 16" tires arent significantly much more than 15"s A balanced car will wear tires better than a front heavy fwd. As well braked relatively light rwd car, brake costs will be similar. Initial cost of an ITR is more. Insurance is sure-as-shit more. ITR maintenence should be less, but ive seen way too many smoking and ill-engined ITRs at the track to assume that the engine will go a good long time either in the end, I dont think you can say an FD will be a whole lot more than an ITR. - Evan - 10-13-2004 .RJ Wrote:Hey evan, why arent you tracking the WRX anymore?because im making payments on it. one more reason you shouldnt be tracking the R. (but not necessarily a FD either) - .RJ - 10-13-2004 Evan Wrote:16" tires arent significantly much more than 15"s They are when you're using falkens and used 205/50/15 R-tires. You can't get 16" r-tires for $100/set all year long. Even going to 17's to use Falkens, they're still $106 (225/45/17) and $114 (245/45/17) each. Quote:A balanced car will wear tires better than a front heavy fwd. A 250+ rwhp car will wear tires faster than a front heavy fwd car. I have no tire wear issues at all. Quote:As well braked relatively light rwd car, brake costs will be similar. No, but its a lot faster - more speed = more brakes (ke = 1/2mv^2). It does have a better braking system, so it may just be a draw. Quote:Initial cost of an ITR is more. They're about equal. Quote:Insurance is sure-as-shit more. Insurance on a "sports car" is going to be less than an ITR? Probably another draw. I'm paying $60-70/month for the ITR now. Quote: ITR maintenence should be less, but ive seen way too many smoking and ill-engined ITRs at the track to assume that the engine will go a good long time either I've seen several ITR's with well over 100K at the track, their engines are fine. I havent had to put any additional $$ into maintenance this year, or have any unexpected costs. Quote:in the end, I dont think you can say an FD will be a whole lot more than an ITR. j00 are high
- Maengelito - 10-13-2004 it doesnt matter, i havent seen .RJ at the track since he took his new job anyway - Mike - 10-13-2004 yeah, he doesn't go. he got owned. - Kaan - 10-13-2004 Quote:I have no tire wear issues at all. ok sir chunks alot - .RJ - 10-13-2004
- ScottyB - 10-13-2004 would an FD really be that hard to maintain for track use? sure, it might be wise to upgrade the apex seals, and take a good look at the cooling system, but i think mazda had competition in mind with that car and tested it for that environment accordingly. |
