What did the Fords hit? Doesn't your wife drive a Ford now?
Ford doesn't own Land Rover/Jag anymore.

I know, it's a joke.

I'm only 9/10 serious.

you don't even know 9/10ths.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - HAULN-SS - 07-28-2016

I agree with FORDshit, just to be clear. I bought this because it was about as cheap as I've ever seen a 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 sell for

Initial impressions of daily driving this thing after 3 days:

1) Again holy torque. Getting on 95/64 with a short merge lane is no issue. At least when the truck is unloaded it is easy. We will see about when a trailer is loaded
2) Yup, this is a big truck. I feel like I'm sitting higher than any vehicle on the road unless it is a box truck or bigger. I'm always concerned of staying in my lane as I'm still getting used to the truck. I can see far ahead of me which is nice.
3) Tow mirrors are wonderful. I love the small bottom mirrors pointing towards the side of the truck and down. They are 100% useful for passenger side when some slammed honda civic sits there on my blind spot.
4) Seats have been comfortable for 30-35 minute drives and I can adjust lumber if needed, cabin is superbly quiet then again I'm coming from my car
5) Speakers are more washed out than I thought. They are meh. These have no base. Mostly mid range. But probably more they do nothing good in general.
6) Backup camera is utterly craptastic if it rains as you can't even see out of it 2 feet. Good thing this has parking sensors. Not sure if this is normal or not.

Mine is the same way. It even points down a bit, but rain kicks up and renders it mostly-useless.

Mine doesn't have that problem. Smile

Check to see if this is a thing on your Silveraydo....on my Canyon you can wrap the tailgate cables around a peg, effectively leveling it at 45 degree angle. The backup camera points down perfectly onto your trailer hitch for when you are lining it up with your trailer. Pretty cool! Dunno if they did that on your truck or not.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - RawrImAMonster - 07-29-2016

Not sure if there's much you can do to prevent it, but rust commonly develops right above the rear wheel on that fender on newer silverados. My grandads and cousin's trucks both have it in the exact same spot. Just something to keep an eye on.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - rherold9 - 07-29-2016

Is there really any significant difference or reasons for getting over vs under rail spray in bedliner?

Rust above the rear wheel fender? Meh, I'll take a look but not overly worried

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2016

My factory spray in liner wasn't sprayed under the rail, I'm sure it will be fine especially after I put a tonneau on there. It's really more for the benefit of water not pooling up in the bottom of the bed and rusting through

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - rherold9 - 07-29-2016

So over the rail sprays also on the top of the bed on sides? Under doesn't do that? That's basically the difference? Or am I missing something?

I'm just trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the factory drop in. try to sell it? I have no where to put it. This gone be fun.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2016

I'm not sure exactly, I am pretty sure the top of my rails are coated but I have these like factory plastic covers over them. If you look underneath the rails, there is no coating; at teh factory they basically just sprayed it dead on sideways at the bed rail. If it was me having it done, I'd probably have them take the 2 extra minutes to coat underneath, but honestly I doubt you will ever have any problems underneath your bed rails.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-29-2016

I believe Over vs Under Rail just dictates wether it is bedlined on the top of the rail or not.

I suggest getting over, so when you reach over to grab tires over the side, or put a tonneau cover, it doesn't rub off your paint.

You can see it does make a line, but I never notice.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2016

Yeah if there is an option to spray on top and you don't have some kind of plastic protector I would definitely do that.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - rherold9 - 07-29-2016

Okay cool so get over rail which means they spray on top as well as the normal under rail spray. It's an additional cost with line-x of $100 so I'll take it. Going for the premium sometime. Hopefully before winter.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - Sully - 07-29-2016

I feel like if your truck comes from the factory with the plastic caps on the rails, you wouldn't get over the rail. If it is just a painted bed rail top with no cover, then most would get the over the rail. I know my ford had the caps so it doesn't have over the rail spray. My neighbors dodge didn't have caps so he got over the rail.

Re: 2012 Silverado 2500HD Diesel - Sully - 07-29-2016

If those plastic caps aren't part of the bed liner, they won't go back on after the thickness of the line x is added. And there may be little holes for mounting tabs if you leave them off. Just a thought.
