The s2k, I only rode shotgun in. The m3, he rode shotgun and lincoln was in the back. When I sold my sentra, I rode shotgun and my buddy rode in the back. When I sold the m, I rode in the back I think and the dad drove while the kid he was buying for rode shotgun. Sold the 240 to a friend so doesn't matter. Not sure he even test drove it. When i bought it, a guy who used to work for my dad who became a friend drove it down from Fredericksburg for me to test drive it. It was his buddy's car. Sold the civic to a friend who bought it without paying then returned it later that day cause it got a flat. Then bought it again after I put new tires on it.

When I went to look at a couple pile of shit Nissans before I bought the 240, I brought that guy who used to work for my dad who knew way more than I did and was much better at detecting problems. He test drove them and I stood around with the friend the owner would bring as backup lol. He did a 300zx and came back and asked the owner so how long has it had a miss on whatever side. Owner was clueless. And then a clutch went out while he was test driving another busted 240 for me. Still almost bought that car but in the end we walked away. Not sure how the kid got it back home.

Test drove another s2k and almost bought it but asked the owner to stop by the shop where that guy worked and had him look over it too. Walked away from that one too.

But both s2ks I looked at that I didn't buy, I think the owner drove then we pulled over and switched and I drove.

The two m3's I didn't buy, I drove with the owner riding shotgun. Still pissed I didn't get the chance to buy that white 97 that the guy joey used to work with was selling. Damn bank being closed on Saturday.

As far as test drives go, I feel the person out. I had a guy in his late 50's come to check out a Miata with his wife. After going through the car I had no problem letting them take the car out alone. I just asked for his car keys until they returned. For others, I have no problem telling them to slow the hell down if things even start to get out of hand. That being said, there has to be reasonable expectations during the test drive. When I test drive, I am going to run the car through the RPM range, I'm going to stomp on the brakes and I'm also going to feel out the suspension to see if any issues are present. I expect other people to do the same and I've actually told people to feel free to do the car I'm selling. But if they seem like they have no idea what they are doing, they get reeled in very quickly. If someone shows up sketchy, I'll drive the car and they can ride. If they are really interested after that, if they have cash, they can take the car out.
