RE: Cordless Tools - davej - 01-07-2020 Been dealing with failing dewalt tools for a while but I can't get too mad, they been through a decent amount the past 15 years. Going to switch gears and give these a shot. Sorta eyed the brushless, but I can't justify the price increase for what I do. Probably most excited for the grinder, I'm always afraid the $10 HF one is going to explode and kill me. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Combo-Tool-Kit-9-Tool-with-3-4-0-Ah-Batteries-Charger-and-Tool-Bag-2695-29P/306190861
RE: Cordless Tools - Senor_Taylor - 01-07-2020 What kit do you have now? I have this and like it so far. https://www.dewalt.com/products/power-tools/combo-kits/20v-max-compact-cordless-5tool-combo-kit/dck521d2 RE: Cordless Tools - ScottyB - 01-07-2020 my garage is mostly black n yellow tools but i'd love to give Milwaukee a shot sometime. they seem to have maintained a pretty solid quality/price balance. Cordless Tools - JPolen01 - 01-07-2020 Milwaukee seems to be all the rage right now. My electrician buddies love the brushless stuff but they are running them constantly for 8 hours a day. Cordless Tools - Sully - 01-08-2020 Brushless is the way. We use all DeWalt at work. 60v stuff is the truth. The 60v circular saw is almost as good as a corded one. I use their weed eater too and uses the same batteries as my power tools and it's perfect for what I need. Just got the blower too so we'll see how that works. Sure it'll eat batteries quicker but should still get my yard done Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk About to give you bad boy a try too. Haven't been able to go full cordless yet at work and the generator is kind of annoying between it sitting so long and we only have two and they always seem to be somewhere else or broken. My boss might kill me for buying this but maybe I'll offer to buy it from company if he doesn't want it. ![]() Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Cordless Tools - davej - 01-08-2020 (01-07-2020, 03:53 PM)Senor_Taylor Wrote: What kit do you have now? I should clarify that it wasn't the tools failing, outside of the jigsaw, but more the batteries not holding charges any more. I figured if I was going to drop a couple hundred on batteries, might as well get a new kit and start fresh. RE: Cordless Tools - Senor_Taylor - 01-08-2020 I see. I wish I got brushless as the drill was getting very hot last night drilling some metal, but I can't complain too much. Drill still worked perfectly fine but batteries would only last like 20 minutes. The batteries were like $70 a piece... I feel like they used to be built better but the technology, features, and batteries have come so far. Wish the quality of the name was still there but I use DeWalt cordless every day and I don't really have any complaints.(01-07-2020, 03:53 PM)Senor_Taylor Wrote: What kit do you have now? I feel like they used to be built better but the technology, features, and batteries have come so far. this is where i'm at right now. my dewalt 954 14.4v drill is probably 15 years old at this point. the original battery let go a long time ago and i'm running 2 el-cheapo amazon chinesium units that are a PITA to deal with because they don't hold a charge have developed some strange behavior, probably from never having a proper charge/discharge cycle in their entire lives. still works but...not the old reliable it once was. i hate throwing away good tools...its like a mantra around my house but when batteries are attached to the picture it really does become a cost analysis kind of thing. by the time black friday rolls around again i'll probably take that chance to upgrade. |
