Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-12-2015 Stutterbox or Anti-Lag? Stutterbox isn't too bad on the car Anti-Lag will signifcantly shorten your turbo life (not that I cared and I did it everywhere since the DSM broke anyway) Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - rherold9 - 08-12-2015 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Stutterbox or Anti-Lag? It is cutting fuel Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - JustinG - 08-12-2015 I miss my GSX, I miss that Exhaust, and I miss the glorious tractor sounds. Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - SlimKlim - 08-12-2015 I wish the stock launch control in the GTI would fuel-cut just to up the giggle factor. I tried it once and it just sort of hums at 3k rpms, until you let go of the brake. Unlike the MKV it seems to be smart enough to limit torque initially and get the car rolling without excessive wheelspin, but then it just says "eh fuck it" and lights up those stock all seasons anyway after a second or two. It is cutting fuel Ah stutterbox. Fun, but no flames and scaring the shit outta girls (my immature self thought this was very fun at JMU).. Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - rherold9 - 08-12-2015 Wish someone would have spark launch control in the club. Then again we have Jack who just revs his ridiculously loud bike at them Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - WRXtranceformed - 08-12-2015 Any of you bobos run open dump tubes like I did on the STi? FREIGHT TRAIN COMIN THROUGHHHHHH WaaaAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! PSHpshpshpshpsh Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - jbails39 - 08-12-2015 So as I was prepping to do the Autotech internals install, I popped a CEL P2187, lean at idle. Car was running normally, so I cleared the codes through the Accessport and went home, no more CEL. After some research, I decided to clean the MAF sensor, and lo and behold, the O-ring on the sensor is essentially 100% disintegrated. Blue O-ring everywhere, it may as well not exist. The extent of the carnage is so immense that I will probably need to pick up a new MAF sensor ASAP. Still, I cleaned off the bulb and internal wires, plugged it back in, and it seems to be working like it did before. Nevertheless, new intake was ordered (whatever's in there is a piece of shit) and I will try to source a new MAF sensor tomorrow, and then maybe do the fuel pump internals. I am pretty sure there is a good bit of unmetered/ mismetered air entering or exiting through that compromised sensor, which may or may not be leaning me out. Too bummed out and tired to do much else today. I'll also see if I can get us an account or something with a discount. I saw something like that on here once or maybe it was auto zone? I don't remember but depending on what the part is it might be a cheaper way for some us to get some parts cheaper. Some stuff is probably better still bought at more specialty stores rather than advance, but its a nice option. Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-13-2015 ^^^ during college I was a commercial manager for advance auto in Vienna. I set up a commercial account with the highest level discounts. Unfortunately it auto-pulls down the discount if it isn't getting used. The base commercial account does give some discount on some items but it's hit or moss Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - *insertusernamehere* - 08-13-2015 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:^^^ during college I was a commercial manager for advance auto in Vienna. Speaking of, I saw your name in the computer the other day, a big ol' "DON FITZPATRICK". I'll be a Retail Manager soon, so maybe I can sneak us in when no one is looking. I should probably also thank Goodspeed cause the GM remembered him and therefore remembered MM and basically hired me because of both. You da man, goodspeed  Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - jbails39 - 08-29-2015 So... got the Autotech fuel pump internals and TIP+SRI installed, as well as a new MAF sensor. Buttoned up, primed the pump, and all power was lost when I tried to start it. No lights or anything would come on after repeated attempts. Ended up replacing a blown MAIN fuse in the fuse box, and apparently it was just a symptom of a stripped wire in a harness that was stripped during install at some point, or at some point in the vehicle's past. Anyways, I patched that up with electrical tape. Now the car pops a P2178 for RICH at off idle. This corresponds with some pretty wonky AFR and Long Term Fuel Trim readings. I am also not pulling as much vacuum as I used to, and discovered that I can only pull around 10 lbs of boost, as opposed to the 15-16 that is normal for this car. So at this point I am leaning towards a faulty primary o2 sensor, and maybe a bad purge valve. I am also highly suspect of the incredibly beat up HKS blow off valve that I have. The rubber fittings inside of it, as well as the o-ring sealing it to the intercooler are pretty shot. I adjusted and sealed it up as best I could, but now have ordered a new Forge V2 BPV to hopefully solve some of the possible vac/boost leak issues and maybe correct some of the rich issues. Honestly, not sure if that will fix it or not. I am confident that all the clamps and fittings are tight back to the turbo, and the intercooler fittings are likewise tight. I will probably dealer order an o2 sensor this week, maybe that will solve it? Should hear back from my tuner on monday for his suggestions. Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - ViPER1313 - 08-30-2015 Perform a boost leak test before you throw any parts at it. I have found a 5th of liquor plugs up the air intake boot on my DSM
Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - jbails39 - 07-25-2016 Gonna revive this dead beast and use it to alleviate my boredom at work. Here is what has happened in the ~ 1 year since I last posted in this thing: Suspension: -ISC N1 coilovers because my back is supple and I enjoyed the smooth ride too much. -Do Bridgestone Sport-Comp 2s count as suspension? Engine mods: -Corksport Cat-back. -Custom-tuned by Stratified Tuning: 21 psi. Aesthetics: -Started to actually wash the car regularly. -Full tint maximum legal %. -Black Gen 2 Speed 3 wheels. -Lowered about an inch on the coilovers. -Red Calipers. -Corksport Fog Lights -WRX S204 Lip on the way -Smoked window rain guards on the way Pretty satisfied with how it looks now. This is the only picture I have right now from the Autocross I did with Porsche Club of America a few weeks ago: ![]() Issue now is the cheap HIDs I bought to replace the one that burned out have destroyed two of my HID ballasts. I fixed it the first time by buying a whole new headlight off a guy on facebook. Worked great, then the ballast on that one burned out too. Narrowed it down to the super-cheap-and-in-hindsight-terrible-decision bulbs that I got. Gonna melt apart the headlights and replace the ballasts. Not looking forward to it, but w/e. Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - Senor_Taylor - 07-25-2016 Those wheels really do look fantastic. Did you ever fix that clunk up front? Re: GEN JUAN: Cosmic Blue '07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT - jbails39 - 07-26-2016 Yeah, the front right strut was 100% shot. Coilovers fixed everything. |
