FS: 2004 Forester XT, very reliable, would drive cross country with AAA membership.

Lulz. I read your thread just now before clicking this one. But yea that sucks. Idk. I'm torn between the awesome of a performance wagon and all the bullshit that could possibly go wrong. You all know I'm no stranger to turd cars (see: hellrot M3) and that one almost took my love for cars away lol.

But the Forrester just doesn't have the charm the outback has to me for some reason. Like when they are done up (similar to Justin's)they look good and I like them, but I still like the outback way more

RawrImAMonster Wrote:The non-turbo ones seem to hold up pretty well, but I don't trust turbo'd ej25's much past 100k.

after owning an N/A subaru for 8 years i wouldn't own a turbo EJ25 at any mileage no matter how tempting. maayyybe an EJ207 from the JDM hot rod Spec-C, but that's pushing it. subaru made too many compromises with a super old engine design to meet modern emission and MPG standards, and the engines are just plain tapped out. not to mention the average young owner ignorance and cheap mods promising another 100hp.

Re: Wagon Wednesday: Official Thread - CaptainHenreh - 01-30-2015

I'm convinced that the EJ motors were just never intended to go beyond, like a 95mm bore. They made it too big so "americans can have some torque" and they fucked it up.

The 2.2L models are basically indestructible. 2.0? Samesies. Then you get the 2.5l engines and they've never made a good one. Coincidence? I don't think so.

a subaru with proper mods and internals from a buyer that knows their ass from a hole in the ground.

good luck finding all 3 of those factors in one place though.

Re: Wagon Wednesday: Official Thread - Sully - 01-30-2015

Yea especially in a 2005 outback xt manual lol

Although, it could be a good thing because it could be an older person who did all the dealer recommended service and stuff.

But you guys don't seem to think very highly of the motor regardless it sounds like

Re: Wagon Wednesday: Official Thread - Evan - 01-30-2015

I'd think their levels of "charm" would be about equal sitting on a tow truck.

There's a factory prototype E46 Touring in that same garage, among other awesome stillborn ideas.

Just realized this was posted on the first page. Doesn't matter, it deserves another spot.
