I've been struggling with working on the car even with having it in my garage now.. But I picked up some Raxles so i can finally get rid of the vatozone axles which like to explode the boots and spring grease everywhere.

If Maeng can't break these, then for sure it's a good product..

I guess you can't go as cheap as possible with axles. I bought cheap ones off rockauto for the civic and I'm pretty sure they started flinging grease within 300 miles. Funny part is, I can't find the tear (at least with it mounted and the car not jacked up) but I hear them push air when I squeeze them. Oh well, guess I'll run it till they start making noises.

i always ran cheap axles and never broke one, but i suppose the hatch only put ~130 to the ground. with the grip it had, though, that's still a lot of stress.

It's not breaking the axles due that's the problem, more along the lines of the boots being crappy on re-man'd Autozone units.. and the grease being used being really crappy.

Heat up the boots of the axles enough, and you got an implosion. Seen people add a vent for their axles, but I'm lazy and Raxles has a lifetime warranty.

i see you're gettin serious about weight reduction. cylinder head removal is a pretty unorthodox technique though.

Yeah I've never done any internal trans work -- I think the hard part really is just keeping track of all the bits and pieces that come out.. Guess it will be more of a timing thing, if I have the time I'll try it out... if not just give it to a buddy who is a Honda mechanic and let him take care of it for a $40 or so.

while in there why would you only do 2 gears? seems like i'd spend a little more and do a full rebuild
