Picture doesn't work hotlinked until I logged into the Miata forums.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 09-04-2014

The first good-looking miata. Not bad mazda.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 09-04-2014

Oh, those 17" wheels look WAY better than the 16's.

I don't like it in red. Give me white or BRG or dark blue.

well they lose, car looks great, and so does the weight loss

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 09-04-2014

7500 redline. Should be good for ~175hp out of the 2.0 skyactiv

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-04-2014

Ok, who's buying one?

This is MM sooo...none of us

But for real though, this is the *only* new car I'm actually enthusiastically interested in. I'll give it a year or two (I still feel bad for people who bought NC1's...) to wait for any word of a Mazdaspeed model, see the coupe, etc...but whatever the ND was going to be has been on my radar for a while.

I just hope they offer it in a more interesting color palette than earlier generations. I love the Lava Orange and Velocity Red from the '04/'05 MSM, but together they accounted for ~1800 cars. The blue I had was about 3500, and there was a Laser Blue that was only 151 cars. The NC had a few nice, rare colors, but in all, the color lineup for the Miata has been pretty bland.

I'm also wondering where this is - and what the status is of the Fiat spinoff roadster.

soul red is the only color you need!

Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 09-04-2014

if they bring in Winning Blue from the RX8 it would look amazeballs.

i was really looking into the FRS/BRZ in a few years and still am, but they are slowly revealing a lot of stupid mechanical issues (fuel pump and injector issues thanks to the half assed hybrid DI system, weak axles, spun bearings) that i'm not sure i want to have to deal with. if they didn't have a back seat i wouldn't even bother. if i can swing an ND and only 2 seats, it just seems to be so well done and engineered for handling that it will be hard to ignore.

the ND just needs to prove the skyactiv engine is up to a good thrashing and it might be a home run for Mazda.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 09-04-2014

Dinan's S1 M5 puts out 675hp with Intake/Exhaust/Tune. And if it is anything like my car, the Dinan tunes tend to be mild compared to other options. I'm sure aftermarket tuners will make be able to hit 700+ hp with ease. These things are going to be pretty beastly.

Just imagine if you can get these (the base M5's) for under 20k in 15 years like you can with e39 M5's.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-08-2014

Horry chit! Dodge dropping the price of the Viper to $85k new. Current gen Viper owners get a $15k rebate (since Dodge just demolished their resale value).

Guess this means used Vipers will probably be in the low $70's to high $60's range. At that price I'd definitely consider one over a Vette.

Goddamn.....Dodge Viper coupe for $85k new. Sorry, it is 10x sexier than a vette, even if it is slower.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 09-08-2014

Wow. The poor sucker that just bought a used one really got screwed here.

That guy just lost $15k in value though. There's a friend of a friend who was selling his Viper for $85k to free up some capital. *Boom* now that car is probably worth $70k. If you've got Viper money that hit shouldn't kill you but I doubt every Viper owner is indifferent to losing $15000.

Still, Dodge had to do something. Better than having to discontinue the Viper altogether.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 09-08-2014

Yeah I would be pretty salty too, but in the long run they are collector cars so if you were keeping one for the investment value, just hold onto it for another 20-25 years and keep the miles off of it. Otherwise I would say most owners are just buying them as toys and the $15k hit sucks but is probably irrelevant.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 09-08-2014

Oh yes, that'll do donkey. That'll do.

Same supercharged V6 as in the FType, 0-60 in 4.9, 8 speed auto or 6 speed manual options, also the 2.0T and diesel versions available. Interior looks still a LITTLE dated but I do like the look of the car better than its German rivals. That's just my personal taste though. Can't wait to see if there is an R or RS version!!!

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 09-08-2014

Uh and the diesel apparently will see 75mpg?? Wow...
