Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-26-2012 it was not the same on ps2. not sure where i've mentioned this already, but i picked up a logitech keyboard for my ipad (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/tablet-ac ... oard-cover). yes, i've griefed folks over getting keyboards for their tablets in the past. i apologize. i love the thing. i'm not always going to use it, but whenever i head somewhere to do "real work," it's going with me. Better battery life. Larger screen. Had wifi before apple even thought about putting wifi on an iPod. The Zune media software is a joy to work with compared to itunes. And Microsoft couldn't give them away. The Zune failed because it was so late to the party, that the party was over by the time they arrived. Had MS released the zune about 2 or 3 years sooner it would've been a lot more successful. My life is complete. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-26-2012 you still use a 2nd-rate device. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 10-26-2012 shit http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/26/goog ... id-tablet/ kind of want Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-26-2012 Mike Wrote:you still use a 2nd-rate device. ...and you use the AOL of operating systems. We'll call it even. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-26-2012 looks like 10" with what, 7" usable? too much wasted real estate. typical android fail. chris, i don't even know what that means. while market share may be dwindling, total market is outpacing. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-27-2012 It's okay if you can't see over the walls. We'll do our best to not hold it against you. This is neat: http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57538 ... le-device/ Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-27-2012 oooh daenerys. anybody try windows 8? nerd friends have all installed. most don't get it. i may install on my dick-around box at work on monday. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - CaptainHenreh - 10-27-2012 Mike Wrote:oooh daenerys. Installing on the desktop right now. Let you know...but mostly it was just an excuse to move from vista to 8 for 40 bucks. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 10-28-2012 been meaning to install it for a while. i bought a new ssd so ill throw it on that when i get a chance Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - HAULN-SS - 10-29-2012 Just ordered a kindle fire HD for dad's birthday. He already had a first gen kindle, and I think he has been liking using mom's toshiba thrive some, so this might be a good compromise tablet for that. He may still use the OG kindle for reading, but for browsing the interwebs and such, I'm trying to ween them off the shitty desktop that they have been using for years. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - CaptainHenreh - 10-29-2012 SO...windows 8 for two days... Remember I'm moving from Vista but...it actually is starting to make sense. I "knew" I was going to hate Metro, but it's not so bad. Considering 90% of computer users just use them as facebook machines, having a central "information hub" makes a kind of sense. I'm still getting used to searching for my desktop applications, and the 8 upgrade borked my Office Pro install, so I'm going to have to dig up the discs and my old MSDN key...even though the "compatibility check tool" said I wouldn't have to. In general, though, I think this is actually a really decent OS. I find all my objections are more that it's not the way I've been doing it for almost 20 years rather than an actual *problem*. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 10-29-2012 http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/29/google-nexus-10/ $400 hrm. not as much want. The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JPolen01 - 10-30-2012 No LTE though? Am I missing something? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - caa337 - 10-30-2012 http://www.androidguys.com/2012/10/29/n ... lains-why/ Guess that is why? We may be switching away from Verizon anyway depending on who buys onto the tower that got built close to my parents house. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - CaptainHenreh - 10-30-2012 JPolen01 Wrote:No LTE though? Am I missing something? This didn't really surprise me at all. For a GSM/HSPA+ phone, then can sell that world wide. For an LTE, not only are they limited to either the US or the highly competitive SoKo markets, but then they have to deal with gaylord vendor locks. (Which is the problem I'm having now with my CDMA carrier...if the technologies are compatible, why do I have to jump through hoops?) Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 10-30-2012 No LTE, no care. LTE networks are getting lit up worldwide. It uses several different bands so its not completely standard, but we have 5 band radios in phones now, whats a couple more bands? (And I think HSPA+ comes in a couple different bands too IIRC) Doesnt the iphone 5 use 1 radio chipset that covers every major worldwide band? Nothing stopping google from putting the LTE radio in the device and letting you put whatever sim you want in it. No locks/unlocks required anyway, after filling up my nexus7 16gb in short order, I wont ever buy another mobile device that doesnt have a card slot. fuck off google, im not using your cloud storage bullshit when I may not have a connection wherever I go. No locks/unlocks required That might be true if any US LTE provider actually allowed you to do that. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut they don't. |
