Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 11-11-2010

As expected, I got officially raped for most of the night last night.
When I wasn't in a party, it sucked.
When I was, it was still fun.
YMMV

Are there any balance issues that you've seen thus far? Is it that you are getting hammered by perks and weapons that you haven't unlocked yet?

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-11-2010

There are some people in college or high school, or those with no lives that can play a shit ton more. Ive considered myself to play a lot when I get home because I dont have kids, dogs, wifey, house to take care of etc and im at 1/4 the amount of time in the 2 days that its been out than a lot of my friends. Balance issues are very fair, theres really no perk thats "crazy" compared to others and no weapon that just blows everything away.

I think 80% of it is not knowing the maps. Most of the people owning me were either before I saw them or before I could get an honest shot it. If we went toe-to-toe, it was generally split and if I saw them first I got the kill. I also played with a few friends who are hardcode COD players and people of similar level as them (15-18) were working them over at times. I don't think it was balance or level issues, mostly about knowing where to go and which direction to look. FWIW, my kill:death ratio was dramatically different depending on what map we played and a pattern seems to be emerging.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 11-11-2010

Actually now that I think about it, I remember in an interview with Treyarch that Black Ops does not use skill to match players up. Their reasoning was that players would prefer to get hooked up with a match quicker rather that getting into a match with similarly-skilled opponents. Their opinion is that skill-based matchmaking takes too long. Personally I think that was just a bullshit excuse to not develop code that would match people based on skill. Halo matches based on skill and I don't think it takes too long at all. I find that I don't get into ridiculous mismatches very often with their system.

In the same interview with Treyarch they were saying that they noticed a large percentage of players never play MP or that they play for a little bit and quit. That's why they added that training mode. My opinion is that putting people into fair matches would be a much better way to keep casual players from getting slaughtered.

Good point. In any of the FPS's you have a huge advantage if you see the opponent first. In the CoD games it is magnified because it so easy to get killed. It's pretty rare for you to survive if your opponent sees you before you see him and he has decent aim.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - REED - 11-12-2010

I was going to pickup black ops yesterday, but my xbox has decided to not recognize any game I put in.

not 100% what that means, I guess I'll be talking to microsoft...sad face

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 11-12-2010

So has anyone tried the "Toys R Us Pricematch" with Best Buy? Apparently TRU is giving a 20 dollar gift card with any game >=$59.99, or 50 dollar gift card if you buy two...someone said Best Buy would straight up price match, instead of fooling with a gift card. If that's the case, I don't have to pick...

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Kaan - 11-12-2010

I'm doing OK in Black Ops... some of it has to do with having a crappy tv... some of it has to do with lag... but over all i am enjoying it.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 11-12-2010

My projector bulb blew so I'm out of commission until I move my Xbox upstairs to the plasma. If it wasn't all fancy wired and I wasn't sick, it would be done already. Of course this means I'm going to get double penetration whored when I start playing again.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-12-2010

Been doing work on CoD...I was more sold on Halo multiplayer for a while because it doesn't invite camping like the CoD series does...but Halo is very 2-dimensional when compared to CoD multiplayer.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-12-2010

Warlord Pro and Last Chance Pro are the SHIT!

Working on Ghost Pro, except nobody ever does turrets for me to kill Sad

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-15-2010

I'd like to reiterate how hard it is to find someone with a turret to kill. I go SO excited last night because an opposing team member finally got one and I had a rocket launcher literally around the corner ready to blow it up...until a newb teammate of mine ran out directly in front of it on purpose, died, and that kill ended the match. So salty. I even tried getting my own turret and blowing it up (since the challenge didn't specify "enemy" turret) but it definitely doesn't work.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 11-15-2010

The one where you need to share a supply crate with a teammate 10 times is a bitch. My friend is going for it... he waits until I respawn/can get to him before he ever calls it in. Pain in the ass.

WRXtranceformed Wrote:Anyone played the hidden Zombies arcade game yet in COD:BO? A buddy of mine told me about it.

To play it, begin on the starting screen where you are sitting in the chair with the screens around you and you can select Campaign, Multiplayer, etc. Instead of selecting one of those though, look down towards your feet. Press LT, RT repeatedly until you break free of the wrist straps. Walk all the way to the back of the room until it prompts you to "Hold X to Use Computer". Hold X, then type "DOA" and press enter. It takes you to the hidden zombie game...have fun!

This is AWESOME. It's basically Smash TV, but with better graphics.

I had to move my XBox upstairs and evidently my router up there is utter crap. I get dropped every other game... the best one was when I was 5-0, leading my team and hadn't had a chance to call in (and get credit for) my crate. Cry

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-16-2010

Finally got Ghost Pro. I scrambled for an enemy turret when it finally dropped. I died probably 3 or 4 times because I didn't care about enemies around it...I just wanted to get to it!

I finally respawned behind it and took it out. Ghost Pro is pretty awesome. Between that and Second Chance Pro I'm sure it has saved me at least a couple of deaths a game.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 11-16-2010

Well, I've started my journey through the wastelands...

NV definitely has a different vibe to it. Definitely more Fallout-y. In the beginning of F3, everybody and my brother pretty much thought I was going to solve their problems right away. NV, well, not so much. I definitely get the feel that I am very very small fish, which I never really got a sense of in Fallout 3.

Also, Browning Hi Power? In a video game? Fuckin' awesome.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-17-2010

Sorry I blew up your turret Chris Sad

If it makes you feel any better...once you prestige, you lose everything including your credits. The only thing that remains are your K/D ratio, career kills, etc. So basically you have to look for another turret all over again...
