Stuff like this can quickly have you looking at $20-30k spec miatas and going "That makes sense". RE: Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 03-10-2019 2nd car same shit. Everything goes right until it goes wrong then it just goes to shite It's more like to the point of just pay someone else to work on my pile. Which I honestly will probably do for next season and on Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk I guess I can post some positives from yesterday, although not as entertaining. Everything is done in the front, torqued to spec, anti-seize all over the hub hole, and all bolts/nuts touched marked with a paint pen. ARP studs, new hubs/bearings, and new springs. Went as smooth as one could want. I lowered the front two full turns. Hoping that makes it close to the same height with the stiffer springs. We'll find out whenever I can get it on the ground.... Passenger side rear spindle is in, all arms are hand tight, except the rear trailing toe arm I took out. Rear damper with new spring was also put in. Torqued to spec on the top and marked. Lowered 5 turns. Hopefully that will lower it than it was before and give front to back ride height close to even. Hoping for a little less oversteer with the less rear rake that was built into the setup for autocross before Seat was moved backwards. Seat padding taken out to sit lower. Seating position has my wrists over the steering wheel which is perfect. Leg length wise I'm right at the max my legs can do with pushing the pedals all the way down Today's goals: add in class letters/vinyl numbers for front/rear as well as add in NASA stickers. Probably make a few errand runs to get some wheels for the dremel, worm clamp for power steering, more zip ties, maybe get some fresh gas and start the car to see if it at least runs.... RE: Really? Another Miata thread.... - Kaan - 03-10-2019 anyone want to come visit me? i have 10 days to get a motor rolling in the civic of doom... and i'm going to freaking do it. Really? Another Miata thread.... - Senor_Taylor - 03-10-2019 It's taken me a month to start wiring up my fan, spent an hour or so fiddling with it and gave up. Godspeed to both of you. Another Miata thread.... - ScottyB - 03-11-2019 sorry bro. when it rains it pours (maybe pour PS fluid? might taste better than brake fluid) to your credit - good on you for going over this stuff and at least being keen about refreshing it. there are probably more than a few guys that would just be like "lol racecar gonna just send it bro" with some questionable parts condition. At the very least you'll cause an electrical fire which will be entertaining for the rest of us. Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 03-13-2019 Spindle here tomorrow, swap hub/bearing I hope on Friday. New arm/nut and fender liner comes tomorrow. Extra wheels bought for the angle grinder. A bunch of dremel bits bought for touch up Then finally, if time allows start on fog light covers and window brackets. Small sheet metal piece bought for brackets as well as small PVC/plastic sheet bought for fog light covers Alignment appointment set for next Thursday... All signed up to drive the first event. Instructor school Friday. Final push this weekend/next week as I took this week off to relax a bit *Prays to the car Gods for a successful weekend* Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 03-13-2019 Calling Richmond peeps, who knows of someone who has a press in the area that can help me get hub/bearing swap between the two spindles done for this weekend?? Friend is unfortunately going out of town because of a legitimate family issue and won't be able to do until like Tuesday. FlimFlam can't do the swap until April... Fuck. Tuesday is way too risky in case something else goes wrong. Car would need to be on the trailer Wednesday evening. Yikes I'm going to try and call Delta V tomorrow and other shops in the area Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk RE: Really? Also try 4x4 shops. A hub/bearing is a hub/bearing. Four Wheel Specialty on Broad are really helpful guys. RE: Really? Another Miata thread.... - Kaan - 03-14-2019 just go buy one at HF.... or see if there is one on CL you can get for the weekend and put back on CL Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 03-14-2019 Long story short, National Speed forwarded me to a shop. They can do it same day. Going to check with Pearson Mazda for another bearing. Knowing my luck so far with this car the brand new bearing will destroy itself coming out. Need to be safer than sorry at this point National Speed seem like really good people. Felt right just talking to them on the phone Edit: bearing ordered. Will be here tomorrow $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ going down the drain is all I see at this point. I'm just over it. Want this shit just done. Another Miata thread.... - Jake - 03-14-2019 My (non-racing) friend once told me "it seems like throwing gold bars off the Key Bridge would be a cheaper hobby" and uh... he's not wrong. At least it can seem like it some days. RE: Really? Another Miata thread.... - Kaan - 03-15-2019 I only threw 2 oz of gold off a bridge and landed the last (and really clean outside the valve cover) stock B18C5 (JDM ITR) motor... blame my wife, she didn't want me to be the first person to ever coil on plug a non vtec motor. |
