- Maengelito - 02-12-2009 Mike Wrote:Sijray21 Wrote:sucks about the shock Mike (if it is indeed blown) - what kind of shock is it? can you just get it revalved? or pay the $150 to have it rebuilt and sell the kit for like $1000 or something - Mike - 02-12-2009 the other rear is showing serious signs of being dead soon. $300 plus effort plus no car for a while isn't worth it. - Evan - 02-12-2009 buy koni "race" shocks (lol..) put them on your car. get buddy crubs rebuilt. clean them up. sell to ricer. - Maengelito - 02-12-2009 I assume you'll buy new shocks to replace them, its not like it'll be without shocks the entire time you rebuild then sell. You go buy your Koni Races for $900, plunk down $150 for the rebuild of the one that is blown, sell BC set for $1000, buyer is now responsible for whatever happens to the other rear, you just paid $50 for a set of Koni Races and a very small increase in effort over what you would've already had to have done. I mean, what are you gonna do with the BCs now? edit - Evan Wrote:buy koni "race" shocks (lol..) put them on your car. get buddy crubs rebuilt. clean them up. sell to ricer. yeah, what he said - Mike - 02-12-2009 blehhhh... too much effort. evan Wrote:buy koni "race" shocks (lol..) lol? - .RJ - 02-12-2009 Evan thinks the Koni race-valving shocks are just tarted up street shocks.... which they are. Never mind they're reasonably priced and work really well
- Mike - 02-18-2009 parts all just came in. woot! decided i'm just going to send the rears to get rebuilt for now. fuck this economy... i don't want to afford buying new shit. - Mike - 02-25-2009 so i pulled the shocks off tonight. does either look blown to you? i was unable to compress either by hand: http://www.iammike.org/gallery/?dir=my_ ... ic/shocks/ - .RJ - 02-25-2009 It looks like the seal is weeping a little bit, but that doesnt mean its "blown". The gas charge shouldnt be held in by that seal. How does it drive? I'd be inclined to clean them up, and then keep an eye on it. - Mike - 02-25-2009 how does it drive? like a street car with 750lb/in springs in the rear... the suspension doesn't really move. my butt is telling me it's jumpy in the rear, but i've got nothing scientific. - .RJ - 02-25-2009 Do you have some nancy springs you can swap in to see if you can get a better idea of what the shocks are doing? Street driving may not tell you much anyways, low speeds and bumpy ass roads. - Mike - 02-26-2009 i might have something close to nancy to pop on... or i may swap sides. regardless, i think i might as well get it rebuilt. if there's fluid, it's only gonna get worse. - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-26-2009 Mike let me know where you get it built and how much they charged you. - Mike - 02-26-2009 i'll be sending them to buddy club usa. they quoted a 2 day turnaround and $150/ea. going to swap sides tonight. - Evan - 02-26-2009 my cuscos leaked a bit but were in fine shape. and they worked great for the guy i sold them to - Mike - 02-26-2009 i swapped them around tonight (i'm 95% certain i labeled them correctly last night) and the nasty clunkin was muffled quite a bit, but still existed, and in the same side. things that make you go "hrmmmm." i then thought it might be the upper mounts so i went to swap those, but accidentally had the impact set to tighten and TEARRR i ripped one of the bolts. luckily, they're replaceable and i was planning on the car being out of commission for a bit. so i gave up on that... then i moved to installing the asr swaybar and brace. looks like the sway won't clear my muffler, but i can't tell for sure because with only one person i couldn't hold it all up. sure, i could bolt it all together, but the guy i bought it from seems to have left out all the fastening hardware. JOY! so i dig around the boxes, am tossing shit around, and then *clang* *clang* *clang* "wtf was that!?" oh, the type r shift knob i forgot was in these boxes. 10 minutes of polishing later, all the burrs are off it. 10 layers of skin later, it's installed. bad night. - kcook - 02-26-2009 sry about your night ... are you going to make it out to a few events this season? I have yet to meet you as well. - .RJ - 02-26-2009 kcook Wrote:are you going to make it out to a few events this season? Track santa comes out once a year  - Apoc - 02-26-2009 ....sometimes never, if you're Jewish. - JustinG - 02-26-2009 kcook Wrote:I have yet to meet you as well. You aren't missing much. |
