Yeah!! And it's a tune (or pulley and tune) away from a bunch more horsepower. I can't wait until this thing gets released.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 08-22-2014

What chall know about the diesel 2014 JGC? Jeff didn't I see you all had one on your lot? My brother has the Overland edition standard petrol V6 and he really likes it. Some of the local dealerships are giving pretty massive incentives on the diesels because I guess they aren't moving as well as they would like. 30mpg highway and 720 mile range with 420 torques is appealing

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 08-24-2014

So I test drove the diesel Grand Cherokee, a loaded out Limited that would have most of everything I would want. I would probably swap out the tow package for the Offroad Adventure 1 group, or potentially add the Offroad II group to get the air ride suspension. This is the one: http://www.kefferjeep.com/new/Jeep/2014 ... c603c8.htm

I liked it the most out of any SUV we have checked out so far. I actually took this for a test drive and I am glad I did, because even with the standard suspension it was a great ride. The motor I was very much interested in as it is rated at 240hp/420tq. Obviously it was very punchy and I am glad it was mated to the 8 speed because it kept the Jeep in the power band just before it ran out of steam near the 4500rpm redline. The dealership seemed pretty eager to make a deal on it because I don't think they were moving a lot of the diesel GC's. I guess anyone who wants a more powerful one than the petrol V6 opts for the V8. I am not sure yet if I like it enough to trade the Jag in on it, or end my wife's lease early but it's the best "overall package" SUV I have checked out so far!

Sweet! The Diesel would be great as a tow rig, and probably better on the highway vs. the V8.

What has you looking at SUVs now, anyway?

For sure! Both of our families live either in northern VA (mine) or in the mountains of WVA (hers) on farms. We have taken her Elantra up to WVA a few times and although it gets great mileage on the highway it is NOT good for backroads, which we learned after getting caught in a freak snow storm this past winter trying to make it to my family in VA. 15 miles of white knuckling and sliding around mountain roads with no guardrails makes you think long and hard about your vehicle selection...haha. Thank God we weren't in my car.

Also I think the practical side of me is starting to win out on the "horsepower is awesome" side. It would be really nice to have an SUV for stuff around the house, plus it is getting harder and harder to stretch the legs of my Jag here with all of the traffic that is getting worse and worse. I don't end up enjoying this car even close to its full potential, like ever, and I am constantly dodging potholes and driving gingerly on awful roads.

Lastly, this is getting bumped up on my timeframe because I may need to move to Idaho for work. There is still a lot up in the air on this but if I do, I pretty much have to have a 4x4 says everyone in that area.

Although I wouldn't be towing much, the 720 mile range and excellent highway mileage would serve its purpose well for us on our trips, as well as the amenities, comfort and safety of being in a 4x4 SUV.

This is absolutely fucking awesome. My moms friend had one of these and I remember the interior like it was yesterday and I love how the updated version is so similar. All the way down to the door trim haha

Your mom's friend had a 70 series?? It must have been imported because the FJ70's never made it to the US :finger:

I would totally buy one of those new FJ70's (in the truck form) in a heartbeat.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 08-26-2014

what's up with the extra mirror on the fender?

BLINGMW Wrote:what's up with the extra mirror on the fender?

Blind spot. Plenty of cars have it there outside of the US

Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 08-26-2014

yeah this I get
[Image: --7_0Bom_37.jpg]

but the A-pillar mirrors plus just one of those to look all out of balance is pretty silly. :|

Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-26-2014

I like the weirdness of the extra mirror.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 08-26-2014

Looks nice and bendy, i wonder if you could twist it down to show the front bumper and keep an eye on your approach angles.
