Haha yep. I also love that I don't have to take my Playstation out of the bag Smile

International flights are typically on better (for the flier) laid out planes, no?

It's carrier dependent. Korean Air and British Airways are great, Lufthansa and Iceland Air are pretty good, Delta is crap.

For example, the long haul Delta has a seat pitch of 31-32 and the same exact plane (A330) on Korean is 32-33.

Alaska's domestic flights have a pitch of 32.

In summary, US carriers are shitty.

But do you pick flights based on carrier? Most dont. And back to the problem that it's a commodity service.

Only if the prices are within 10% and the times are convenient. Which is never.

I outright avoid some airlines like Spirit, Frontier, and Ryanair, even if it's cheaper by a significant margin.

But another component is time slot. Sometimes I don't have a lot of choice if I want to hit a certain time slot. Then there's connections. I would fly Jetblue far more often if they had more direct flights, or 1 stoppers. But if I have to connect twice to get to where I'm going the time and hassle penalties end up being too great.

I'm almost always on American (formerly US Air) or its affiliates because that's what I have status on. It's not worth it to switch carriers and have to board zone 5 and not get first dibs on premium seating / first class upgrades.

You know what grinds my gears? How no "fun" cars are made for normal size people. Every car that I have ever sat in, I have had trouble with fitting my feet in the floorboard. Even in the E46, my foot gets hung on some a/c ducting under the dash unless I wear a specific pair of shoes. Size 13 isn't even that odd of a size. I expected to not be able to fit in the Miata, but I even have trouble in my truck and in friends' cars.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - SlimKlim - 02-05-2016

Huh, I wear 13s and have never noticed a problem in the BMWs, one of the reasons I like BMW so much is even in my little E36 I don't have to put the seat all the way back.

Are you one of those people that likes to wear work boots everywhere for no reason? I have a hard time driving stick in my big steel toes and they definitely get caught on stuff, but regular shoes, or even my city slicker "chukka" boots are fine.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Senor_Taylor - 02-05-2016

My boots fit better than a lot of shoes, actually. I can't wear any of my tennis shoes ever, in any of my vehicles. The only kind of shoes I can wear are boat shoes, or canvas shoes, which I don't wear because I ain't no city slicker.

I was honestly really disappointed when I got in the E46 and got my foot caught on the air duct when I pushed down the gas.

I guess the next question is, how are you positioning your foot on the pedal? Is your heel like midway through??

I wear a 13 and it has never been a problem on any of my cars. And yeah I don't have the seat back all the way either.

Yeah my right foot is usually slung in there at an angle with my heel under the brake and the ball of my foot on the gas. If I tried to line my foot up vertically with the gas pedal I'd probably get it stuck on stuff too.

You're definitely doing it wrong.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Senor_Taylor - 02-05-2016

Well, in the BMW, there is a hole worn in the floor mat that I can't help but have my foot sit in it. I have bad knees, so I can't have my foot turned all funny under the brake pedal. It's not like it happens all of the time, but it's not a fun moment getting your foot stuck. It's all about the height of the tread on the shoes. I can only wear thin ones. My boots have a lower heel than other shoes I wear, including my work shoes.

Working on a proposal lately has lowered my IQ :?

There's something that grinds my gears, government proposal work. Such a colossal waste of time but you have to do it if you want to suckle at the hairy teet of Uncle Sam.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - WRXtranceformed - 02-08-2016

Here's a new one: Lady two seats over from me decides to paint her nails right before the flight. Obviously everyone around her complained about a smell and she at least owned up to and apologized. But I mean for real? Some people's children man

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?! - JPolen01 - 02-08-2016

That seems like a pretty big no no. Nail polish fumes + enclosed space = almost certain people would be pissed. What a moron.

Lord baby Jesus must have read this thread. Had entire rows to myself all the way home (two flights). Laying down for six hours while sick as a dog? So money.
