I vote GS3.

Speaking of 4G, here's LTE versus our Cox internets at home with an AirPort Extreme 802.11n router. Might as well just leave WiFi turned off at this point...

Ehh, I'd prefer the lower ping.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - HAULN-SS - 09-25-2012

5GB cap is really low. I'd be tempted to cancel home internetz if that wasn't so low. Streaming netflix really eats that up.

with that latency its going to feel much slower regardless of throughput

Haven't used it yet because it showed up with a dead battery (classy), but... Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is the cheapest feeling device I've picked up in about a decade. Build quality is absolutely abysmal. And what's with this charger? Does it actually use a 20-pin Apple cord (not yet verified, but it looks like it)? The ones that Apple is no longer using? Silly Samsung... Not expecting much once I actually turn it on.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-10-2012

Ah... it's on.

Wow. Surprised. It's actually not too bad. From a functionality standpoint, it beats the Nexus 7. The screen is iPad 2 quality. It's no secret I don't love Android, but a lot of the things that bug me about it on phones and the 7 are non-existent on the larger device.

I'm still not sure why you'd by this before an iPad 3 except for needing uber amounts of storage or hating Apple, but it's not a bad device at all. On par with iPad 2. A better screen and quite a bit of build quality away from iPad 3 territory.

Mike, do you review electronics for a living or just always trying what's new as a hobby? You always seem to have the latest gadgets.

Thats what you gotta do in the land of brown flip flops

I test software that runs on gadgets. Always gotta have the latest and greatest Smile

Now that I have a full suite of Android devices, I don't see any new purchases on the horizon (we just went Android so I had to stock up). I suppose iPad Mini is next if that ever materializes.

Learn me some Cable Modems and Wireless Routers....

I am switching to Comcast Xfinity interwebs, I have signed up for their 50mbps DL service, so what will work the best and give me the fastest internets?

Get their Cable Modem/Wireless Router in one unit for $7 a month? But I've read the wireless range on their combo unit is pretty sub par.

Is it better to get a Cable Modem and a seperate Wireless Router? This looks to be $10-20 cheaper but then I have to deal with finding a place for both to sit, not that big of a deal, but I dont want an eyesore of wires/electronics in my living room.

Get a combo unit? Looks like these are about $130-150 on amazon for the new stuff.

Docsis 2.0 vs 3.0? WTF IS THIS?

I also have my old wireless router from college, the trusty and stylish Linksys WRT54G, in all of its Blue and Black glory. can this handle the speed the 50mbps DL speed?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 10-22-2012

I would suggest getting a separate accesspoint, new ones are pretty small and sleek. Just make sure anything you get is wireless-N, faster throughput (although if any of your devices are wireless B or A it will just downgrade).

Thanks Ken....Anyone else?

Also anyone have any horror stories of ordering Refurbished/Used stuff from Amazon? Says it is "Sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals"

I love how the recent Nexus 7 update lets you look at home screens in landscape mode. Still loving this little tablet, I use it every day.

+1 should have been that way from the beginning. Now if I can just have USB OTG storage without having to root the damn thing, we'll be in serious business.

I hear you. Now that I have all of my music in the cloud, there really isn't a reason for me to need the storage.

Actually i ordered http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VMAYAM/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00 about 3 months ago and it's working great. I bought that one since it's compatible with DD-WRT and i set it up as a repeater bridge to expand my signal further from my first AP.
