Mike Wrote:hey, you know what might make the car 2 inches higher than it should be? if the shock is clamped in to the fork 2 inches lower than it should be! muahahah. fixed without even taking the wheels off Smile

that's what i'm thinking is wrong with mine. i have a slight front rake on my hatch.

- Mike - 08-14-2008

well now you know the fix Smile it's a 14mm, but it's a very tight bolt... i'd recommend using an impact.

steps:
1. jack car from the front
2. put jackstands on either side
3. turn wheels one direction
4. loosen 14mm bolt
5. put jack under tire, crank it
6. tighten 14mm bolt
7. turn wheels other direction
8. loosen 14mm bolt
9. put jack under tire, crank it
10. tighten 14mm bolt
11. remove jackstands

it took me less than 15 minutes start to finish.

- Mike - 08-16-2008

damn, this was an awesome upgrade. was in a tight corner, 2nd gear, normally the car would have just pushed out if i gassed it, but the motherfucker gripped and went. damn. i'm afraid of hitting the track; places where i used to just floor it and slide around will be completely different. specifically, summit from 5-9.

thanks for that, might do it in the morn.

i feel the need to mention that i finally got around to swapping out my tails for "new" stockers. they were stockers, but i think the previous owner painted them and then sanded whatever he painted them with off... they had a serious haze/fog/opaqueness... yay!

- Mike - 02-07-2009

so i just got a clunking noise in the rear right. had to take my race pads off the rear (after 1.5 years of having them on) so i took a look at all the bolts and shocks. bolts were all tight as can be, but it looks like my shocks are leaking some fluid; shafts were wet.

damn.

i really need to spend $1000 for no good reason.

sound like they're blown?

Found this on my cpu when I was cleaning some things off it the other day Mike

It's you on the dyno at one of last year's car shows. Link for DL if youre interested

cool, thanks. that gearing is so f'ing long compared to now Tongue i think 3rd used to take me to about 90? now it's more like 70.

thats what it sounds like to me. If you take it off and can compress easily by hand, it's toast :-).

So rather than spending money on some new shocks (I want to swap them side-to-side before declaring the one blown), I went and bought a few things that I knew I wanted or needed in the near future.

ASR Brace and 24mm Swaybar Kit
[Image: ASR_bracesway_ek.jpg]

The plan is to go with a front biased spring setup (current 600f/750r) since that should correct the natural frequency (rear is 1.25xF so 750f/600r is perfect). Adding the swaybar will hopefully neutralize the handling, but I'm thinking it may do a little too much.

VX Rear Diffuser
Rids the car of some nasty airflow by the rear bumper. Basically fills in the left side where the muffler is on the right side.

Type R Shift Knob
I had a fake one before, loved the weight, switched to a Spoon Duracon that I picked up in Japan, but want the weight again.

Fluidyne Full Length Radiator
My half-sized single-core stocker has been on the way out for years. With the new gearing I'm certain it wouldn't have the cooling capacity.

Bought new I'd be looking at $900+ for all this stuff. Managed to get it all for $450 shipped Smile

I also picked up the caliper I need to replace.

Why all the work if Track Santa doesn't take out the sled for a proper ride? Anyone want to take odds on who hits the track in VA first this year. Me or Track Santa?

- Mike - 02-11-2009

Oh, there you are.

I'm all about the show.

I think a more even bet would be between Mike and Gerald's Integra

G bought an integra? That can't work out well.

Oh. You're still talking about that integra. Jesus. I just assumed that one was a pile of rust and G bought a new one.

- Sijray21 - 02-12-2009

does G still have that integra??? i thought he got rid of it - i bet the oil has evolved into some sort of living being after not being used for a while

:paging G:

sucks about the shock Mike (if it is indeed blown) - what kind of shock is it? can you just get it revalved?

- Maengelito - 02-12-2009

I have no idea if he still has it, but it still might see the track before mike's hatch does.

buddy club. they want $150 to rebuild it. i don't think i liked them enough to pay that... i'd send all 4 in since it's just a matter of time... $600? i can get PICs or koni race shocks for $900ish brand new. apparently blown buddy clubs sell to ricers for $500 or so.
