Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - CaptainHenreh - 09-24-2012 Apoc Wrote:Why not AT&T since it's, you know, not T-Mobile? Whichever. The last interaction I had with AT&T wasn't wholly pleasant, but I think I could deal. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-24-2012 I've been on AT&T for almost 10 years with only minor annoyances. Mike has had a similar experience. FWIW, it's the carrier that releases Android updates and not Googs. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-24-2012 I can't pass up an opportunity to hate. http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/21/ajax-w ... of-broken/ As broadband becomes more pervasive, the number of connections is the largest contributor to how fast web pages load. It would be interesting to see LTE comparison tests between the platforms. A6 is fast. well done IC-company-that-apple-bought. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 What is it about android that their phones cannot participate in a group text, i.e. their phone doesnt recognize that its a group and just sorts the messages like they're from each person? "every 10 min we had like 50 new messages, but they were 5-15 from each of you with no way to respond" followed up with - "honestly, I think apple is pretty lame, they've come out with the same phone 5 times with minor upgrades" I lol'd. I guess neckbeards never had the thought that they would want to communicate with more than one person at a time. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 09-25-2012 lol...group texts? maybe android was just designed for adults? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 so perfect. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - CaptainHenreh - 09-25-2012 Evan Wrote:lol...group texts? I always wondered this. You have a phone, that makes phone calls, sends emails, uses chat clients, sends facebook messages and you choose the ONE method of communication your phone has without guaranteed delivery? :evileye: Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 I get a message failed notice if it doesnt go through. Does android not do that? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-25-2012 I didn't even realize people group texted, other than sending a blast text to multiple people. I can't imagine a chat room via SMS. Sounds horrible. I used the wife's SGIII in an LTE market for the first time this last weekend. HOLY SHIT. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 Apoc Wrote:I didn't even realize people group texted, other than sending a blast text to multiple people.
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-25-2012 .RJ Wrote:I get a message failed notice if it doesnt go through. Does android not do that? The message failed is if your phone fails to make the hand off to your carrier. There is no failure message if it doesn't get from your carrier to the other carrier and then to the carrier's phone. My sister sent me a text at 4:30p from a Verizon iPhone. I didn't get it until 8:30p on an AT&T SGII. She had no idea I didn't get it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 I have no problem with that. If it was critical, I wouldnt use a text message. I dont use the group texts often, but its nice to have the option - spent the weekend in NC for a wedding and the group text made coordinating between 12 people on things pretty painless. I had no idea that android couldnt process this until at some point saturday someone with a Mohammed phone bitched about it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-25-2012 Coordinating for groups should be done via email, not text... but that's just me. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Steve85 - 09-25-2012 I use group text to communicate with several referees at once for emergency filling, we use it for coordinating volunteers at events, communicating with more than one kid at a time... Granted the BB I was coming from was a complete POS, but the ease of doing this on the iPhone is nice. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 09-25-2012 Here is the next generation android phone
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 09-25-2012 StarTac was the shit! Here's next generation Apple Maps:
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - G.Irish - 09-25-2012 Bad thing is, it looks like Google is not going to have a standalone Maps app for iOS any time soon: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/ ... 7U20120925 Now I'm wondering if I should get a GS3 or Nexus. Not unhappy with my iPhone4 but I sure would like to get 4G. |
