Re: XBOX 360 - Dragon - 12-31-2009

Not that a lot of you do this, but occasionally I like to break out one of my older games and play that. XBOX 360 is backwards compatible, PS3 is not. That's another thing to consider.

That being said, Tracy and I own all three of the systems, Wii, PS3, and XBOX 360. All three have their merits, but the primary system that I play on is the XBOX. More of my friends are on it then the other systems, their online network is better IMO, and they have a wider variety of games. The only time I will buy games for the PS3 is if it's something that interests me and it's a Playstation exclusive: Killzone, Resistance, Gran Turismo. The Wii is just for the fun games such as Wii Sports, Wii Resort, Mariokart, etc, but as was previously said, I would never buy a serious game for the Wii.

Back to XBOX, has anyone played Borderlands? I'm considering this for my next purchase, although I'm still highly addicted to COD:MW2 and am still working my way towards 70. Speaking of that, anyone here planning on doing Prestige when they hit 70?

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 12-31-2009

My buddy just went into Prestige and he said it's easier to level up once you do. You get bigger bonuses for achievements so you level up again faster.

Re: XBOX 360 - Evan - 12-31-2009

My PS3 is backwards compatible, not that I ever play any PS2 games anyway. Physical disc movies are dead to me so Ive never used the blu ray player and unless I get netflix I never will. The Media Player is really slick but I have an HTPC for that. Im bummed that my version PS3 doesnt play SACDs like the earlier ones but most people dont care about that.

The fanboi arguments are stupid and pointless. We are all big boys with jobs and could easily afford both systems if we wanted to. I really enjoy the story driven PS3 exclusives like Metal Gear and Uncharted, and I cant stand FPS with a controller which 360s strength, so as it turns out getting a PS3 as a gift turned out to be perfect for me. The vast majority of games are cross platform now anyway, and I certainly dont waste enough of my time playing games to warrant another system.

Actually you were exactly the person I was thinking about with the older games. I know how you used to break out the old Resident Evil games when you were bored. What version of the PS3 did you get that it's backwards compatible? From what I've read some of the original PS3's were, but more recent ones aren't.

That sums it up pretty well. Both systems have their merits. If you're looking for story-driven, single-player, the PS3 wins. For that reason, I'm pretty surprised Rex has a 360. Story games are not my thing... 360 it is.

Well, the 360 has plenty of story driven shit for Rexy. Fallout 3 put me in a 110 hour orgasm, and there's Mass Effect, and DAO and all other kinds of shit if I want a good story. I don't do JRPG's, and 360 doesn't have any so there we go. Natural Match.

I played Eternal Sonata. It was good if you're into classical music.

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 02-11-2010

Bioshock 2. Awesome.

Dragon Age. Awesome, but long. Wish I had the code for Shale that worked.

Want to try Dante's Inferno but I'd like to rent it before I buy it. Bioshock I knew was going to be awesome so I just snagged it today.

Re: XBOX 360 - JustinG - 02-11-2010

I need to pick up Bioshock sometime, first one was insane

so yeah youre right......I popped in MGS2 the other day after finishing 4...... its not backwards compatible. Looks like the last edition of PS3 Fat and all the PS3 skinnies arent backwards compatible. The earlier versions are.

Re: XBOX 360 - G.Irish - 02-14-2010

The Halo Reach public beta is coming out May 3rd. I think I'm going to do another group game party like I did for ODST. Only thing is I don't know how many people can play on the same screen simultaneously.

There's also a new documentary video on the development of Reach with some gameplay video in there on youtube: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0_jiB2hqeQ&feature=player_embedded">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0_jiB2hqeQ&feature=player_embedded</a><!-- m -->

Looks like the battles will be much bigger in scale, I've gotta say I'm pumped.

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 02-14-2010

ODST was the most boring 5 minutes I've spent while gaming in a while. Hopefully Reach wont be the same way.

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 02-15-2010

So Bioshock 2 is a pretty awesome game. My buddy has been replaying the first one again, and after watching both the second one is much more detailed than the first. Which is saying a lot to me, because I thought the first one was gorgeous. I like that you can use plasmids and weapons at the same time and that there are interesting kill combinations with plasmids (freeze an opponent, then pick them up and throw them at others). ADAM is also more readily available in this one and you can open up a ton more gene tonic slots which is pretty necessary on the hardest difficulty, especially in the middle portion of the game. I really like how you have to defend your little sister while she's gathering ADAM too.

Big Sisters are HARD. Especially toward the beginning of the game when you don't really have any good weapons or abilities yet. They can come at frustrating times too, like the end of a level where you're already fighting a ton of guys. Brutes are also difficult, but since research seems to play a bigger role in this game it gives you a competitive edge over them.

The only complaints I have about the game are regarding the "aura" of the game and the sounds. The sounds were one of my FAVORITE parts of the old one. The crazy ranting of the splicers, the screaming and "GA-GA-GA-GA" from setting one on fire or electrocuting them, the "Come back when you got some money, buddy!" from the vending machines. A lot of that has been toned down or completely removed altogether. Some of it is still there but it's not as prevalent. The bigger issue for me is the lack of truly frightening and chilling levels. This is what won me over on Bioshock in the first place. You know those crazy levels in the first one like the artist's wing where you walk into a room and a family of splicers is dead and papier mached into a dinner table with eerie spotlights on them, or the surgeon's level where people were randomly pinned up or ripped apart. Those images are still really vivid to me and made that game so enthralling. You just don't get that with the second one. The levels seem to be bigger and more spread out, with less intimacy and interest in the different rooms. There are some cool places and levels, don't get me wrong, but it's just not the same. I've almost beat the game and I don't even remember half the levels I played already.

Anyway I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If it had that same terrifying mental twistedness that the first one had it would be a 5 star game to me.

Yeah I didn't like the slower pace of ODST either. Either way it was more of an expansion pack than anything else. Reach is a from the ground up game.

Re: XBOX 360 - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-16-2010

G, id totally be up for a replay of what we did for ODST!

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 02-16-2010

Beat Bioshock 2 last night. It definitely gets better toward the end of the game. Some of the upgraded plasmids are so badass too, they really help the end battles especially on difficult setting. Being able to summon a Big Sister is sweet!!

Re: XBOX 360 - WRXtranceformed - 02-17-2010

Dante's Inferno. Holy crap!!! Unbelievably creepy game. I rented it last night and played it until my eyes bled. There are a couple of gameplay issues that are annoying (you can't change camera angles to view how AWESOME the worlds have been rendered) but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Just a basic hack and slasher but with some really doable combos. I really like the boss fights and such and the historical ties to the book. Definitely worth at least renting.

Re: XBOX 360 - Goodspeed - 02-21-2010

Ok so. I finally got around to getting on Xbox Live, after having my 360 for over half a year. I still only have like 3 games, but I had gotten up to level 40 on Forza3 with a ton of cars and credits just playing in my off-time. Come to find out that, after having to create a new profile for XBL, none of my saved cars/progress carries over.

So, um, is there any way I can get my personal garage on XBL, without playing the game all over again?

My tag is DGSpeed51 btw. I'll get MW2 at some point, but yeah, if there's a MM group for Forza 3, hook it up.

Re: XBOX 360 - Mike - 02-21-2010

Probably too late now, but I'm fairly certain you could have just upgraded your local account. No, the saves are associated with your local account and can't be moved. If they could, people could just duplicate cars.
