How about recruiters who hit you up on LinkedIn constantly for job opportunities without bothering to research what your current comp range is likely to be based on your current role and work history? It really isn't hard in today's age to find this out unless the candidate is working for a small, obscure firm / company. I can't imagine that many people are interested in making what they used to make 10 years ago.

I get email for 6 month contract positions in DC. Pretty sure there's a large portion of the recruiter population that doesn't actually read past job title.

Apparently TM1 Cognos skills are in high-demand (I hated doing it). I get hit up constantly about contract positions for that. At first I used to respond no. Now I just ignore.

How about recruiters not mentioning the company they are recruiting for? Am I the only one who doesn't get this? What is the big deal in saying XYZ Corp is hiring for for X. I hate getting emails with all of these amazing opportunities but so little relevant information.

Why would I take a job with no benefits for 6 months at the same pay I make now? That's stupid. Then companies are always wondering why they can never find good candidates.

If you know the company and go directly to them then they might lose out.

Aerotek and companies like that lure you in and then suck the life out of you. They promise a good earning potential with a accelerated climb to an account executive roll that obviously never pans out. We have three new hires from Aerotek within the last 6 months. They all worked 10 hour days with weekends highly encouraged.

Re: flying, since I was just on a bunch of airplanes (took a trip to Phoenix to visit a friend).
Each way I had a connection, so four planes total. Three of the four planes did not involve having someone in the middle seat (I was on the aisle, which I prefer). The fourth saw me wedged in next to some lady who was too wide for the seat. I sat sideways for the two hours and it sucked. I felt worse for the guy across the aisle from me, who was sat next to a guy who had to use a seatbelt extender. And there was a lady in the next row back who appeared to poof up to twice her size once seated.
If the trip wasn't 2,000 miles and only involved 3 days of visiting, I almost would have considered driving. At least my flight times meant I didn't have any line waiting for security.

Re: flying, every time I am forced to fly, the distance I am willing to drive without even considering a flight increases. I'm up to about 10 hours, more if I have someone to split the drive.

Sign up for global access and this becomes a non-issue. Helps with the whole flying experience. Best hundred bucks i've spent - even better, some Airline credit cards will cover the fee if you have any.

I actually think you're all bitches. We've been spoiled paying a few hundred bucks to fly THOUSANDS OF MILES relatively problem free. Could it be better? Of course... but you're still getting pretty good value for money when you look at the big picture.

You are spending $300-400 round trip (~2000 miles for me, BWI->Florida in 2 hours) usually on cheap tickets from an airline company (that's what I pay for Southwest). You expect luxury for that cheap of a cost? Trust me, I know flying isn't fun at all but I'm not going to bitch about it. I'm the most worried about plane maintenance since fares are so cheap. I sit on the inside so I don't have to deal with people getting up a 100 times, stay quiet with headphones, and usually pass out but make sure to get my free drinks/snacks. The only annoyance I have is when someone puts their seat back because a) it shoves the tray into me if it is down and b) there is already no room in the first place.
To be honest, I think flying should be a luxury item and be more expensive. That would be the only way to solve all y'alls twisted panties.

All you short people can STFU. If you're 6'3" or less you can sort of kind of almost fit into the space they give you in economy, over that and you're just considered a statistical outlier. I'm not a claustrophobic person but I was getting seriously panicky when the person in front of me reclined their seat making it hard for me to even move my legs because my knees were so firmly embedded in the seat in front of me.

This exists, it's called first class. Although I would assert that I shouldn't have to be rich to not be in discomfort during a several hundred dollar flight, simply because I'm tall. But I guess I'm just a dirty socialist that wants everything given to me on a silver platter.

Honestly I don't care all that much, I fly so infrequently that I can easily budget the extra $50-100/round trip for an upgrade to the "premium" 1st row of economy where I can stretch my legs out, and then all will be right in my world. On principal I don't think I should have to pay more just because I'm tall, but I will, and that's exactly what the airlines want.
