There is a sidebar to the Lambo article about Bob Lutz ordering up a 5.0 Mustang killer. They did some some neat stuff with a diff't turbo and a V6 throttle body on the Daytona motor to get ~230hp. And there is an article on the Daytona Shelby a few pages after the Lambo car.

- Jeff - 11-25-2007

FWD MOPARZ!!! LOLZ! Thanks for letting me know about this. The Lambtona is some what forgotten in TD lore. There are only a few sparse pictures on the Internet of it.

Well, BFTD.

With the Van all but gone I am going to get back to basics on this project. I will hopefully be bringing it back inside the building tomorrow and working on some electrical stuff.

1. Remove remotestart/security to install on Sebring (or sell to goodspeed?)
2. Install alarm/keyless I removed from the van (remote start + 5-speed = bad news bears)
3. Do wiring conversion for Digital dash/install
4. Install and wire PLX 300 wideband
5. Try to see if I can bring the battery back to life...

Beyond those goals I want to see where everything is and get an idea of what is left to be done. The guy who was going to be painting the van will now be working on getting the spoiler and GFX painted. That should hopefully be done by the end of the week and we can start doing body work and get the fenders lined up.

I'll post pictures of how its looking after being in storage all this time.

i understand why this is not recommended, but this is only when leaving the car in gear, correct? i dont think i ever leave the car in gear while parked aside from when i just get off track in the miata and dont wanna use the e-brake. what are the other downsides to using a remote start with a manual transmission?

- Jeff - 03-03-2008

That is pretty much it. It could launch forward and do some serious damage or even kill someone. The remote start will function fine (see DJ, Justin, etc.) on a 5-speed. I always park in gear...so its not a good idea for me.

- JustinG - 03-03-2008

it easier for turbo cars especially when you get used to having a turbo timer on yrou car, cause you can never leave it in gear obvioudly. I have only had one instance where i tried to remote start my car with it in gear, and it just stalled out, almost curbed my RIMZZZZ though.

OH NOES!!! Confusedhock:

- JustinG - 03-03-2008

that was a while ago, my shits is still clean.

- Jeff - 03-07-2008

Transmission is on its way back together as we speak. They needed to order some parts, the bearings on the diff were F'ed and it needed a new input snout. Mostly to prevent noises. I have the steering wheel and column out to make the wiring easier. I'll take pics of the progress sometime over the weekend. I am in the process of buying a house so I was running around dealing with that and didn't get as much done yesterday as I had hoped.

^^^ haha awesome!

Congrats Jeff, I didn't know you were getting a place! Post up some details when it goes through! You know you're getting old when you sell off your project cars and buy up a house!

- Jeff - 03-08-2008

I figured I would mention the house in a small way until I know for sure. I put in an offer but there was apparently another offer on the table as well. So if that does not work out then I've got to keep looking. I'll post a thread about it once I know more.

Thanks again Scotty...that pic is badass.

- Jeff - 03-11-2008

Holy shit what a rats nest! I am so much better at wiring now then I was then that I am re-doign all the wiring in the dash. Going to do an integration with the alarm so it is impossible to see it. I'm going to put the brain up behind the cluster. I mounted the PLX 300 and wired it in to the wiring behind the digital cluster. Started on the cluster wiring but it is not as easy as I had expected. Most of the splicing is color for color but there are like 5 wires not represented in the analog harness that I am going to need to route in if I want those features to work. Mostly bling stuff, but I want every feature working as it would have new. Sylvia got all the stripes off the bumper (Shelby's had an elaborate stripe tape that we will not be re-installing). So all in all I would say we made progress. The old alarm/remote start is out, new one and the rest of the wiring coming soon!
