I'm just making sure you are set for at least the next couple of years. I'd hustle to get all the "free" work (time based) done this year and methodically add the "extras" after each event... use your data to help you spend the money.

That's the plan, build a base and add the more distinct extras to go faster over time Smile

Almost all done besides a few things. And yes zip ties are holding the ac/heat controls

Are you going to desire or take out the sound deadening?

Glad you are making progress!

Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 12-09-2018

Sound deading will come out. I tried taking some out. It chiseled out but in small chunks. Definitely needs some dry ice help along with a flatter/wider chisel! Overall it's not stuck on there too badly unless that's normal for sound deadening

Sounds normal. I ended up using a heat gun and plastic scraper tool for the M3, and it all came out with zero fuss. Sounds like either way is possible, but if you or Cabell have a heat gun, it's at least something to try that's $Free.

This

And desperately needs a de-wire.

Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 12-10-2018

Yeah, it's unbelievable how many wires there are in this thing and random stuff. I don't want to do wiring until I pull the dash. Be a pain otherwise. Judging by just looking at all the crap for safety, audio, etc. I'm going to say 30 pounds easy...

We do have a heat gun. I'll pick up a better chisel. The one I was using that Cabell had was like a chisel to crack metal or stone

The cool part about the windows is they have 3 studs where they were bolted into the window motor/track. Going to try to re-use them to mount a bracket for transport and rain

I'm looking forward to seeing how much this car weighs now. I hope it's where I want it to be or I might mid season dash pull and angrily pull wires out and leave the dash out until it's caged

i don't know... dry ice + this time of year... the $30 (max) spent on dry ice will make quick work. I did the integra around this time and used dry ice... I spent more time (10 min) vacuuming than I did waiting for the dry ice to work.

Sounds like every window regulator ever.

Harbor freight panel/trim tools are a good wide scraper that won't Mar.

RE: Really? Another Miata thread.... - rherold9 - 12-10-2018

Got down to looking into the Miata suspension. No ball joints are service-able. Arm has to be fully replaced. So, that will put a hold on my bushing plans. Not worth the labor cost to have the bushings changed and then next season or two have the arms be changed due to ball joints.... The car has 108k on the clock so the ball joints have got to be getting closer especially so with track abuse.

I will be checking for play on all ball joints periodically per season until they are replaced. OEM rubber bushings it is for awhile!

Maybe I just need to learn to replace bushings... Have a vice. Have a C-Clamp. Have many sockets. The thing is I've only heard horrors stories about replacement though

Really? Another Miata thread.... - Senor_Taylor - 12-11-2018

It's a Miata, bushing replacement won't be the end of the world. Getting bushings in and out is easy if you can pull the part off the car and get it on a bench.

Idk, good question. Regardless factory rubber I'll most likely be staying with for a bit

I tried getting them to make 12MM for MCS, Moton, etc. but they weren't wiling to do R&D unless I had 10+ people wanting to buy. So that flopped.

Too bad none of this helps with driver mod. Maybe one day (in like 5 years)... When I have nothing left in the car and have money to watch burn

Good thing wise fab front and rear is only -.7 hit.... That means I could just keep 154whp peak and run at the max TT5 14:1 with aero. Nice. Sounds like it's worth it.............
