Since more than a few people have expressed confusion over exactly what my prank was, I'll lay it out.
Rex (me), channeling a country music songwriter, writes a facetious but moderately believable ad involving a vandalized truck and a cheating husband. The fictional truck owner simply wants to get rid of the truck for an unbelievable (too good to be true, some might say) price, and says so in aforementioned ad. (Again, fictional, written by Rex.) At the closing of the Ad, the author of the post (Rex) purports the author of the ad to be an individual named Sante, with the cell phone number of 301-555-1234, which is Sante's ACTUAL cell phone number, even though Sante, who is an actual person, does not own a truck, is not married, and is NOT in the least privy to the ad's placement on the website known as "Craig's List". It was hoped by the author that Sante would receive numerous phone calls to his cell phone number, the callers all wishing to buy this truck which we've established does not in fact exist.
The incident went exactly as the Author of the post (Rex) had intended, with Sante (NOT the author of the post) receiving repeated phone calls requesting information on a truck he did not own and in fact did not exist! This was very frustrating for Sante, and brought great amusement for the Author, Rex.
