Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - WRXtranceformed - 08-09-2009 Need your help guys!! Scott I actually left you a voicemail on this. When I was at school at JMU I ripped an Armin Van Buuren Essential Mix when he came on Pete Tong's Radio One show. I found a stack of backup CDs at my house in VA and they had a bunch of music I lost when my hard drive crashed, but that one track is the only one I really care about and CANNOT find!! Unless someone else in the world ripped it live off of the streaming webcast, I was probably one of the few people that had a copy of it. I sent it to two of my friends, and both of their college computers have since crashed and they lost all of their data. I think I may have sent it to one or two of you guys too. Do any of you have it?? I think it was named Armin Van Buuren - Essential Selection or Essential Mix or something like that. It's probably somewhere between 45mins to 1:15 long. If you do, I would be so stoked if you can get it to me!! Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - ScottyB - 08-09-2009 Lee, i have to run but i will take a better look tonight. i still have all of my music from college but it is scattered all over. do these look familiar? this is all the Armin stuff i have on my HD at the moment that is not TATW or a single song. - Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten - Live at Godskitchen -16-03-03.mp3 - i have a radio one set from puredj.com - its labeled as Radio One and is 18 minutes long. i'll get my CD's out tonight and see what else i can find. No that's not the one. It's at least half an hour or so long, if not more Evan, not that one either, it's much older than that. I had to have had it at least in 2005 Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Apoc - 08-11-2009 I have a bunch of AVB stuff from awhile back. I'm on vacation this week so if you bump the topic next week, I'll check. Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - WRXtranceformed - 08-11-2009 Awesome thanks Chris!! Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - ScottyB - 10-31-2009 anybody listen to Tritonal? i caught their name from one of the Trance Around the World mixes you guys put up. i got on youtube and itunes to listen to some of their other stuff and i'm really digging pretty much all of it... Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Apoc - 06-17-2010 Might be a bit industrial for some people, but I think this is the best track I've heard in a long time. http://soundcloud.com/the-verb/fidelium-god-tank-the-verb-remix-work-in-progress Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Mike - 06-17-2010 that shit is heavy, but i like it. the comments are awesome. i need to check this site out more. "This really is bordering on being a weapon of total and utter mass audio destruction. I'm quite frankly amazed that this drop hasn't been banned by geneva convention yet." "Massive" "FACEMELT" Thing is... they're right. Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Apoc - 06-17-2010 Here's the original that was remixed: http://soundcloud.com/fidelium/god-tank This one is good, but the remix is definitely better. Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Steve85 - 07-13-2010 Apoc Wrote:Might be a bit industrial for some people, but I think this is the best track I've heard in a long time. I need some new music, a whole new genre to explore. Where can I find more stuff like this? I come from a rock / metal / rap background so loooong interludes of not much going on won't work for me. What names am I looking for? Where can I get more than a 30 sec sample to see if I like it? Where can I get it other than iTunes if need be? Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Apoc - 07-14-2010 Check Sound Cloud, Pandora or Groove Shark for on-demand playing. They all serve music up in very different ways (independent upload, suggestion based, mainstream search, respectively) so you can fine tune what you're looking for. Last.fm probably deserves a mention, but someone like Evan is much more versed in it than I am. Here's a list of the main types: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres I'm guessing you don't want ambient or downtempo. Given your metal background, you might consider Industrial because it has a harder edge. Also, your background is an excuse. All I ever listened to when I was younger was rap and I like the lower key stuff when I'm in the mood.Read back through the thread for names, there are a ton in here. My suggestion would be to pick one you think might like and create a station on Pandora. Use the voting system to fine tune what you like and it'll eventually find you artists you like and can go get elsewhere. If you're interested, I can share my electronic station on Pandora to get you started. You can make it your own and vote up and down to fine tune. Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Steve85 - 07-14-2010 Thanks I'll check those out. I keep forgetting every night to hit Pandora. I have been going through the thread and checking the names and playing stuff off YT. I downloaded something from Lange last night. I listened to a bunch of stuff from Fidelium and seemed to be comletely different than that industrial song above. So, I'm finding stuff I like and the searchable and suggestion based ideas will definitely help me explore and identify the specific genre that appeals to me. All I ever listened to when I was younger was rap and I like the lower key stuff when I'm in the mood. You're right, and I will probably get into some more downtempo stuff in this genre (if it sticks) the way I have for other music. The harder stuff I listen to is all on the ipod since I can get plenty of middle ground stuff on the radio. I don't waste my money throwing every last top 40 rock song on there. For now though to get into it I need music that doesn't make me think "Night at the Roxbury".
Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Evan - 07-14-2010 www.di.fm has a channel for most of the electronic genres. listen to a few songs from each to get a feel for each style drum n bass, hardcore, hardstyle might interest you if you like metal Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Mike - 07-14-2010 been listening to "the album leaf." i guess they're kind of a mix of ambient and... i don't know. it's pretty light stuff, but i'm enjoying it. It used to be the only thing I listened to, not sure why I stopped. Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - WRXtranceformed - 07-14-2010 Lange is awesome. Check out www.aboveandbeyond.nu. Their weekly Trance Around the World sessions stream for free on their site, and you can download all of them as podcasts. If you like electronic music you will like their show, and even though a lot of it is trancey they have a good mix of different DJs/producers/guest DJs that provide a wide range of styles.
Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - Apoc - 08-04-2010 Not exactly related but here's a dub remix of a really good jazz song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySlC8Hpqhxc Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIoVSglWwFw Re: Trance lovers: Listen now! - WRXtranceformed - 08-19-2010 I used to listen to A&B TATW a lot, but recently I've started to get into Myon and Shane54's online radio because their transitions and trance beats are more along the lines of what I like to listen to. My buddy had a couple of their podcasts downloaded at the beach and they were some of the best remixes of songs I have ever heard. Check them out! http://www.myonandshane54.com/radio.php |
