RawrImAMonster Wrote:Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it or get a low mileage (sub 30k) 04-06 STi or C5 z06 or something else. I like everything about the car except how notchy the transmission is with normal driving. At high rpms, its perfectly smooth, but it's just annoying for a daily driver.
Want to trade transmissions?

The 6-speed in the MR is really smooth, but it's 15 lbs heavier than the 5-speed. I have contemplated swapping but the 6-speed is a bit quieter on the highway. For me, it's a weekend car only so that's not a big deal.

I'm not even sure if I'm serious, but something to think about.

Re: Project Evolution IX - Ken - 02-07-2013

I'd <3 a 6 speed

Re: Project Evolution IX - RawrImAMonster - 02-13-2013

I switched back to amsoil in the transmission and have it shifting pretty good now. It's back to being as smooth as it ever was, which isn't the best I've driven, but still livable. And I'm good on the transmission swap Big Grin. I avoided the MR because of the problems the 6 speeds have with 4th gear. Not that I really ever put it in a situation where 4th would break.

Now that the transmission is back to shifting well, I'm probably going to be selling it this spring still to look at something (slightly) more livable for a daily driver.

Also I put a new filter in to replace my old one a few weeks ago. I wish it was red to match the rest, but the amsoil filter is supposed to be the best. Pic of my dirty ass engine bay:

Finally got a new DSLR to play with. Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 16-85mm.

This is right behind the L&S diner downtown.

Top shot is money. Bottom shot looks like it could be in a BBS advertisement. Nice work.

Re: Project Evolution IX - RawrImAMonster - 05-19-2013

Sold the evo for the same amount I bought it for a couple years ago. Time to ramp up the car shopping efforts 8)

I'm just ready for something else. Mostly evo's just aren't particularly good daily drivers.
