Have you taken the battery to vatozone yet?

If you haven't because you don't have a car or whatever, please let me know and I will come steal your battery and take it to vatozone.

I even have a multimeter if you need help this afternoon diagnosing this problem.

(but seriously: it's your battery)

Rex come hang out today! I think I am helping him just waiting for a text, but the more the merrier they say.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - CaptainHenreh - 01-26-2012

Ok, hit me up, I'll come help.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - CaptainHenreh - 01-26-2012

Hell, I'll drag start it if I have to, the jeep has a snatch strap now, lol.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - JPolen01 - 01-26-2012

I'll let you know when I do.

Thank you both for your helpful input.

What is definitely not broken:
Clutch safety switch
Starter

It turns the engine pretty slow, so I told Garrett to buy a new battery, even though the old one "tested fine". Any other reasons for a slow crank other than a bad battery?

Re: I kinda need help... fast - Ryan T - 01-26-2012

All the connections for the battery cable and starter cable clean and not corroded?

Re: I kinda need help... fast - WRXtranceformed - 01-26-2012

^^ That's a good one, try cleaning off the cables with a wire brush if they look corroded or have a white film on them.

Yes. It might be a bad ground somewhere, but that's my best guess.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - ispoonwithmugen - 01-26-2012

Yeah put the new battery in, still nothing. It definately is better but it's still not getting enough power to my starter. I also broke my computer so I will not be able to check this as frequently, but if you would like to talk to me directly or offer a hand tomorrow I would be very appreciative, I really need to have it at least started so I can drive it home by early saturday morning. And just reach me on my cell 5409033466 thanks rex and jon for the help today, at least we were able to eliminate some of the possibilities today

Re: I kinda need help... fast - ispoonwithmugen - 01-26-2012

Also, technically if it were a ground, could I not take jumper cables and use two of them to connect to bare metal on the engine and bare metal on the chassis?

Re: I kinda need help... fast - ispoonwithmugen - 01-27-2012

Up for info, I need this thing running tomorrow

Re: I kinda need help... fast - Ryan T - 01-27-2012

It was the third thread down, no real need to "up" it...

If it's not a corroded line or anything mentioned above, look at the distributor cap/coil packs (not sure what a wrx has), could be cam or crank angle sensor, something in the ignition coil, PCM, FPR? Have you checked all your plugs and their wires to make sure the plugs are ok and getting adequate spark? Fuel pump sounds like it's working, are all the fuel injectors clean and functioning well?

Re: I kinda need help... fast - CaptainHenreh - 01-27-2012

Yeah, I really don't think this is a fuel/spark issue. The engine cranks exactly like, twice and then stops.

My theory is that you mistakenly unplugged a ground strap somewhere when you were doing your other work, and now nothing is getting enough juice.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - CaptainHenreh - 01-27-2012

I got a text message from Garrett.

Turns out, there was a ground that was not attached to the starter. All is well now.

Re: I kinda need help... fast - ispoonwithmugen - 01-27-2012

^exactly what he said haha. Thanks everyone for the help/hands
