You should probably have in your 4 Wheeler the following: Tree strap, long snatch strap, 2 sets of chains, shovel, block of wood, hi-jack, several D-rings and a hammer at a minimum. If you have a winch, that is good but winches do fail sometimes, this is why you want the above. I used to 4 wheel all over NoVA and now am able to instruct at Summit through BSR on 4 wheeling. You would not believe the trails right at Summit Point Motorsports Park.

These pics make me want to get another Wrangler. My son is actually building a rock crawler from scratch (tube frame and all). Fun times were had just outside JMU on the many trails just West of you all.

^ Really? I had no idea there were trails around Summit Point. Care to elaborate?

Yea my jeep usually has:
Tow Strap
CB and Antenna
Blanket
Water
Tools
Gloves
Air Compressor/Battery Jumper

I'm thinking about getting a come-along because winches are a little out of my price range right now..

Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - .RJ - 11-02-2011

I also usually carry a power inverter, clif bars, rain gear and first aid kit in my car along with most of the stuff you listed. Never know when shit will happen... like getting t-boned in a snowstorm during rush hour with road shut down everywhere.

V1GiLaNtE Wrote:^ Really? I had no idea there were trails around Summit Point. Care to elaborate?

They have numerous trails ranging from Unimproved roads (where SCCA does the Rally Cross stuff, outside of T-10) and truly Off Road stuff. I have been out 4 wheeling in Sedona, AZ and elsewhere and some of the spots would rival those. There are several "mudding trails" and they have an enormous rock pit that would rival some of the formations we climbed in AZ.

Next time I am out there doing training, I will see if they will allow me to bring my GoPro.

Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 11-02-2011

Are passes/permissions required to drive the trails? Summit only being ~45 minutes away from JMU I'm VERY interested in hitting up some of these trails..

I do not know if they allow the general public out there, but I will inquire.

^ Much appreciated

Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - Ryan T - 11-02-2011

I generally keep a battery powered drill and bit/driver set, pry bars, craftsman 117 piece mechanics tool set, assorted screwdrivers and adjustable wrenches, jumper cables, flashlight, gloves, blanket, chain, ropes, straps to secure cargo, machete, survival knife, fire starting kit, water purification tablets, compass and a few other things in my truck all the time.

You've all forgot the most important thing to bring with you if you might be stuck somewhere for days....toilet paper in the glovebox.

Are we tired of me being the only one posting up yet?

Friday before Thanksgiving break met up with 2 NOVA Jeepers and hit Peters Mill for a night run. Only a couple of pics from the beginning.

Have you disconnected your sway bars?

Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - V1GiLaNtE - 11-27-2011

Only removed the rear sway bar that's about it

You are officially not at Peters Mill or Flagpole ANY MORE!

We thought we packed well… first thing on the list for next year… pillows. Camping two nights without them SUCKS.

For a warm-up… GREENS on Friday (we took out a group of newbs… 2 of them decided to break off… it was either too tough or his Grand Cherokee was burning too much oil lol)

Rausch Creek in Tremont PA

Re: 4x4 Adventures ***pics inside*** - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-05-2013

Bah the rain! Looks fun, does the rain make it harder or easier to rock-climb? I would assume harder but ya never know...

Looks like an awesome time!
