Re: Project ReXJ - Kaan - 06-21-2011 No way... Too much power. That slope is so slippery in older jeeps it's not even funny! Re: Project ReXJ - .RJ - 06-21-2011 And you want a 200whp/2000lb daily driver CRX? Re: Project ReXJ - Ryan T - 06-21-2011 .RJ Wrote:Kaan Wrote:Rex we need to find a "junk" truck 5.3L LS1 to build! A 5.3L LS1 huh? How about a 5.7L 5.3L is the Vortec in my truck.
Re: Project ReXJ - PDenbigh - 06-22-2011 Nice Rex! Good luck! Re: Project ReXJ - Mike - 06-22-2011 .RJ Wrote:And you want a daily driver CRX? FTFY. Re: Project ReXJ - Jeff - 06-22-2011 4.0L HOs are cheap to (and that means pimpin ain't easy) He needs a 97 or early 98 model 4.0 High Output and convert that bitch over to JTEC OBDII. It has OBD1 Renix EFI on it right now. Re: Project ReXJ - Jeff - 06-22-2011 Kaan Wrote:You can protect the JK with the soft top!

Re: Project ReXJ - Mike - 06-22-2011 it is. we don't talk about rexj. Re: Project ReXJ - CaptainHenreh - 06-22-2011 Quit shitting up my thread with this Wrangler faggotry. Wranglers are for Bros. Yeah there, I said it. I hate 'em. There is no V8 swap anywhere in the horizon. If any additional power is required, it will come in the form of a 4.7 liter buildout of a junkyard 4.0, which *is* something I'd like to try my hand at. No wiring bullshit or custom mounts to worry with, and I can easily get 230+ hp and a shitload of torque out of that. Finally, RJ and I have never had a lovechild. In order for that to happen, RJ would have to actually leave the beltway. But it would probably have some really terrible fucking ideas. Like "I'm gonna build a 4BT powered CB750!" Wrangler faggotry. Wranglers are for Bros..... Oh Snap! Re: Project ReXJ - Jeff - 06-22-2011 Fuck off brochacho Re: Project ReXJ - CaptainHenreh - 07-05-2011 So I have some sort of updates. Update #1: I bought a shitload of parts. Two sets of front lift springs, factory gas tank skid (waiting for hummer-style up-armor job from Canturk Fabrication) spare tcase, (with slip yoke eliminator), tcase drop kit, LCA's, a bunch of other shit from an abandoned XJ project that belonged to a friend. Still hunting for the rear leafs so I can make a bastard pack. Of course these front springs are "3.5". Or maybe four. The big ones are 5, maybe 5 and a half? I don't remember. Update #2: I have probably sourced a Ford 8.8" rear axle, 3.73 ratio with LSD and Disc brakes. The guy is supposed to call me when he's pulled it from an exploder he bought for the GT40 heads. Update #3: Decided to find a "unimproved road" yesterday. Out 33W, find a fire road on the side of the mountain and say "yeah, this looks like a good idea." With Julie, the dog, and a gun. (In fine country music tradition) Had to use the ole part time 4 to scrabble out of a creek bed, but we went until I wasn't really comfortable with my ground clearance, and then turned around. In reverse, full steering lock, that's when my Jeep decided to throw a shitload of white smoke out of the hood. I shut the thing off, looked under the hood...nothing is on fire. Belt smoke maybe? Or PS fluid? (my pump or lines or something leak like a polish warship) Anyway, we got out of the woods and it was a lot of fun. Really cemented the direction I want to go with this project.

Good to know, and there were definitely a lot of trails closed, but the one I went down was relatively high traffic for, well, the first part anyway. :-p The dog didn't like all that bouncing around: ![]() He was pretty happy to be home. |
