more thoughts - if you can stomach FWD it's hard to argue with an integra hatch. if you insist on VW, i'd look at a MKII GTI with the 16v engine. those are fun cars and will do anything you ask of them.
i'm one of those people that likes to consider more mainstream choices but will look at the whacky or rare stuff first, so i can sympathize with some of your choices. but for an only car on a budget, i'd buy whats popular.

Hmm.... all good things to consider.
I could handle a mustang or an f-body. There's an 95 firebird with a six speed and rebuilt 5.7 for sale in Broadway for not too much coin...
Anyways, I know I know, its dumb to completely eradicate the two possibilities that seem most obvious, but I just... I don't know, I just don't see myself in them (excuse the existentialist nature of that statement). They're awesome, but I want something a little different.
I definitely like the bimmer idea though.
I've actually looked at a few 2.5 rs's, and they aren't bad at all, and I'm sure they handle pretty well. I know a few I could get on the cheap around here too.
Hmm... so many choices. Can someone just make this decision for me? It'll be like an arraigned marriage; I'll learn to love the car. (Just kidding)
BTW technically, this isn't my first car, it'll be my third. But I've owned mostly shit, and so now I'd like to upgrade to something that is only partially shit.

300zx's are really hard to find in good shape, I spent months looking. Beautiful cars but no one took care of em and they are a pita to get parts for or work on. I have to vote 240sx, I was against them originally too but the coupe bodystyle is startin to grow on me. I haven't bought anything this cheap that was this much fun, and they a ridiculously easy to work on, not to mention cheap parts everywhere u look, if you don't like the way they look, may I suggest an s15 conversion up front, it is pricey but completly transforms the look, my car has a stock 18 yr old ka motor and still will pull pretty hard. Won't say top speed because of liabilty issues with the mm sticker on the back hahaha but let's just say I have found the governer a few times without tryin...(governer is easy to remove)

They want $6250 but I guarantee that they have less than 4g in the car (paid $3400 for it, those bastards...) Anyways, that car is MINT inside and out, low miles, runs great, and I guarantee they would take a low 4g offer on it.

1G AWD can be had for soooooo cheap and are easy and cheap to make power with.

Call them up and talk to them. That car was originally owned by one of the dealer's owners, then the lead mechanic, then my friend Brian (who took a killing on it because he lost his job and wanted the cash quickly....) who sold it back to them. They are legitimate guys though. Tell them a friend of the previous owner (Brian DeCesare) told you about the car.

Just scheduled to go down and see it on monday since he can't show it this weekend.
I ran the title (I know, thats hit or miss) and it scored an 85.... pretty damn good.
