Re: Project: Timmy the 240 :) *56K Death! - BLAIR - 11-16-2009

sweet build man. I miss my sr s13.

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 :) *56K Death! - N0VA_zEnKI - 11-17-2009

haha ya. get another! we can tool together sometime.
update: got my bearings measured out and they checked out fine. Block is assembled except for the front cover and bolt ons. Finished the valves springs/retainers and stuff on the head, so it's good to bolt to the block when I get back home Friday. Just gotta figure out the timing stuff of getting the chain lined up right, and setting cams correctly. Pics Smile

nice...looks like a fun time. that's quite a project for anyone, great to see you tackling it with everything else going on.

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - N0VA_zEnKI - 11-18-2009

yessir, it sure does take all my time when I go home. hah. Hopefully gonna knock out the rest of the work this Friday/Saturday!

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - Steve85 - 11-18-2009

Nice!

Did you assemble the short block? EDIT: reading is fundamental, the answer is yes according to page 1

Have you ever done one before?

I haven't tackled a short block yet and I'm prepping a spare engine now to do my first...

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - N0VA_zEnKI - 11-19-2009

This is most definitely my first engine build. haha... and ya, I assembled the block. Just plenty of reading on forums and the FSM and you're set man. Give it a shot!

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - .RJ - 11-19-2009

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - JustinG - 11-20-2009

glad to see some progress, hope to see this car up and running next time im in the burg

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - N0VA_zEnKI - 11-24-2009

well.... got some serious work done over break so far. Walbro fuel pump got installed, and the motor almost completely assembled. Power steering belt is too small (so is the ac one. it's the same size) Just need to bolt the accessories to the outside, and get the manifolds bolted on Smile

Intercooler's getting mounted tomorrow, and doing the brakes cause I disconnected them to paint the bay. WOO! Still waiting on the wiring harness to return, and need to pick up the turbo and manifold from my buddy

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-24-2009

Looks great, although that thing got a LOT of RTV, be cautious using too much. Aside from that, REALLY REALLLY clean, and is that a white m3 in the back of the garage there? Tongue

God once I get a garage again that I can work on I cant wait to start another project. Me = Jealous

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - Paul - 11-27-2009

This build is badass!! Those KA's love to throw rods. I wish I took more pictures when I'm wrenchin, I get carried away and forget to take them. Car will be plenty fast with the stock turbo and boost controller. Blair's hauled ass!! I'll def be following this build!

Re: Project: Timmy the 240 - N0VA_zEnKI - 11-27-2009

thanks everyone. ya that's an old m3 hanging out in front of the 325ix we just swapped a 5 speed into.
And ya, definitely a lot of RTV. haha. I looked over at my buddy doing the oil pan and I was like WHOA! haha. we made sure to clean up the hanging bits on the inside. but other than that, it's all good.

yo blair i'll definitely let you know if I'm going at it again anytime soon. Winter break is gonna be the time when we throw it in. Think the date for install is Dec. 12-13 Smile
