MWP_Brittany Wrote:Yes and no...my fiance lived there and I was there...a lot. Why do you ask?

I bet he's asking b/c we both lived in Squire. I actually lived in the first row across the trees from HR and saw the car a lot. Certainly has changed a lot since then Smile

Re: Brittany (MWP_Brittany) - MWP_Brittany - 09-07-2009

Yeah David and I both drove it around last year since he was living in 1390 and I was living in the Mill. I bet a lot of people heard it more than saw it since it hasn't been running a full exhaust in I have no idea how long. I remember one night outside the ridge my 02 Sensor went out and my car was running so rich it was shooting flames out of what little exhaust it did have whenever we tried to start it and get it moving. I remember some girl came out and kinda yelled at David and me since he and I were both trying to fix it so I could get out to cruise around H-burg at 2am, LOL.

But yeah, it has changed a lot for both the good and the bad. It was a lot more daily driving friendly last year, and now its really not so much. I know DJ lived over there too, and I think I saw a lot of MM cars right in that first row. I had totally forgotten about that until now.

BTW, Goodspeed, you live in North 38? David and I are actually living in Liberty Square, literally right up the road from the apartments right on the corner of Founders Way next to the dumpster lot.

Yep I do. That is really close, I'm surprised I haven't at least heard the car around

What are you tuning with?

Re: Brittany (MWP_Brittany) - MWP_Brittany - 09-14-2009

Right now, virtually nothing except a MAF Translator and some tweaks to my ECU. I had an AFC, an Apexi Neo, coupled with a pocketlogger, but I am convinced that the flaws in the Neo are what prevented my previous set up from holding a tune and messed up my previous motor. I ran at the shootout un-tuned, which was a huge mistake I will admit since it did hurt my times a LOT. I've messed around with the MAF a little since then and swapped some different injectors into it and it's running a lot better now despite some serious boost leaks. It is still relatively un-tuned compared to where it should be, although it isn't really breaking apart that much and air/fuel isn't too bad right now. It's still running too rich for my liking, but I honestly have to fix the leaks and replace the intake and throttle body (since both got busted at the track) before I really attempt to tune anything.

Anyways, I really need to commit to a standalone system because at this point any piggyback isn't going to cut it. I really don't want to use V3 of DSMLink since I've heard of and encountered a lot of bugs in it. I was thinking of AEM EMS, although I'm terrified of tuning it myself with that, lol. I'm still looking around and seeing what options I have, but in the mean time I know that in any event I'm going to need to send my ECU in and get it chipped again for the mods I have put on there since the shootout, plus I have a few more mods I still need to do to the car before I can really consider it done as a project car...or at least at the point where I will still consider it streetable. I heard something about Open ECU for EVO's working well with DSMs with the right ecu chip/setup. Do you know anything about that?

Re: Brittany (MWP_Brittany) - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-14-2009

dsmlink is the only tool id use. Ive set up cars using S-AFC, translators, AEM. DSMLink is my weakness, and Thomas Dorris is a very nice guy who will go completely out of your way to help you. The new OPEN ECU is gaining popularity but if you think dsmlink has any bugs (what bugs? latest version I didnt have any problems with), then OPEN ECU is worlds of headache *from what ive heard, havent used it*.

Re: Brittany (MWP_Brittany) - MWP_Brittany - 09-14-2009

I've just heard that there are a lot of little quirks with V3. I know Pete's Talon at ET was having lots of problems with it...but that was one of the first ones that came out to be completely fair. It was something related to tuning off of the wideband after you unhook the 02 sensor and a mess-up in the code. I assume that's been fixed by now, but I've still read mixed reviews. I know a lot of people praise it, but then a lot of people say you might as well just go with AEM considering what Link is trying to do an AEM is capable of doing. I will admit that when it comes to the standalones I am personally stepping into a realm I haven't fiddled with.

We got a GST in a little while ago that was set up with anti-lag among other things. Come to find out when David and I try to pull the ECU, it had an EVO VIII ECU in it that the guy was trying to tune off of Open ECU. Guy had no idea what he was stepping into since he had nearly blown up the motor. Since I saw that stuff, I've been curious about it. Plus, I don't know if you remember Cameron Strickler or not (you probably met him at the shootout with David, but he used to have a Stealth and the red 240sx that ET tried to build), but he just bought an EVO VIII to mess around with, so David and I were debating about killing two birds with one stone if it was possible. But like I said, I'm stepping into a realm I will willingly say I don't have much experience or knowledge about just yet.
