I don't like red Xs, I don't like having to sift through images that are totally unrelated to a topic. They are just dumb, is a simple link not good enough? Why should I be forced to look at something over and over and over again? If you're looking to express yourself then you have an 80x80 space to do it, your avatar.

speaking of which... how come i cant upload an avatar? it says its gotta be a jpg, gif or png, but i tried both jpgs and gifs...

- Mike - 01-23-2004

That's broken for some reason. If you host it somewere and use the URL it'll work.

I've read this like 20 times and it still doesnt make any sense. or maybe it's just past my bed time...

Sig pics are cool as long as some jackasses don't take it to far...I manage a site w/ ~400 active members, I have about 1 a month that gets out of line.

The problem arises when the person you're linking the image from realizes that his bandwidth is being used........

Get it now?

But if you link it from a picture hosting service, such as imagestation or photobucket, than it won't be a problem.

i still don't mind them if they're the size of whitegt's. Dave's is too big. I say we can moderate the sizes. nothing bigger than say 600x125.... i.e. banner size

I voted against sig pics because they are superfluous content, add to scrolling, and for those of us who are on a slower connection from time to time it takes longer to download. Avatars are nice to have but sig pics do nothing for me. If you have a pic you want to share you can always post it if you like.

the avitars are enough! Put your car pic in there and a little blurb in a sig line if you must. Then we don't have to scroll past (to qoute RJ for some reaon) "jackassery" like Mike's inane pic (I'm just jealous because my engine isn't flat enough to stand on)... I'd just as soon have the thing run like a BBS, black with green text and boot off a 5 1/4 inch floppy or tape drive, or maybe we could just snail mail eachother messages or use smoke signals or something. But while on the topic of features that we don't really need... why are 20 emoticons available on the screen I'm looking at right now, but to get TWO more, I have to click the "View more Emoticons" button? Are :| and  not approved for regular use?
When it comes down to it, this is a way for us all to stay in touch and bring other MMembers into the fold. If it provides that and is reliable, that's what's important. Anything else is getting in the way. I'd rather be able to view an entire thread in one screen and have it load in .5 sec, because we all know that nothing we post is that important--- we should be thankful that someone is willing to wait that precious .5 sec!

Where's my bat? I am REALLY TIRED of listening to that car alarm....
