- Maengelito - 12-23-2008 jayray, that really sucks man. Sorry to hear it, but I think its time you get something thats less prone to theft. Oh and stop leaving your phone and change in plain view. - Mike - 12-23-2008 so seriously, doesn't your insurance company owe you some sort of refund if they're not going to reimburse you on what you've been paying for? - Apoc - 12-23-2008 Mike Wrote:Sijray21 Wrote:sadly it gets worse. the insurance agent notified me that the title they have records for is deeming it salvaged from a theft in 1999. which is not what the carfax report said, nor my title, when i bought the car , but low and behold, when i check it now it's saying it is salvaged and could be a victim of title washing.... Yeah, something seems fishy there. If they knew it was salvaged, they should have notified you. I'd cause a bit of a stink and see what happens. Depending on the value of the car, you might want to talk to a lawyer about threatening to sue. Most insurance companies will settle out of court instead of paying for the litigation, depending on how much you're talking about. - Sijray21 - 12-23-2008 Apoc Wrote:Mike Wrote:Sijray21 Wrote:sadly it gets worse. the insurance agent notified me that the title they have records for is deeming it salvaged from a theft in 1999. which is not what the carfax report said, nor my title, when i bought the car , but low and behold, when i check it now it's saying it is salvaged and could be a victim of title washing.... it's not much value, but it could come down to walking away with a few grand vs almost nothing at all. i checked with the DMV and they have a clear title for the VIN and as soon as my PIN comes in the mail : hakes fist at DMV:: i'm going to print out the records myselfi should get the full value of the vehicle if it's not recovered... - Sijray21 - 12-28-2008 update: they found the car in Silver Spring sans suspension and interior, we'll see what happens with the insurance company and the vehicle. i haven't seen the car yet but i'll be heading up there tomorrow to take some pictures - Chris - 12-28-2008 that sucks man, hopefully they total it for you. funny they took the entire interior we took out of J's integra... I can't believe people want that stuff so bad - Mike - 12-29-2008 was it black leather? i'll happily make an h-t post looking for one. - Sijray21 - 12-29-2008 Chris Wrote:I can't believe people want that stuff so bad haha, well i jumped on it -- but atleast i paid for it..... it was all black cloth from a '94 GS-R. i appreciate the idea for the wanted ad, but i don't even know what i'd do if i found those people. I've confided with the police before to capture stolen goods and without serial numbers or anything traceable they can't do a thing. total damage from what i can tell after seeing the car should total the car. GS-R blades (sorry mike ), seats, suspension are all gone and the rear bumper is pretty banged up as well (not sure if that was from the tow or the thieves) and they put in front seats from what appears to be an older civic. they probably stripped the interior at one location, drove it to another location and then took the suspension componentsfry in hell thieves..... ![]() ![]()
- Steve85 - 12-29-2008 That sucks, sorry to hear and see... I'm not in NOVA but I think I'll skip the simple spring upgrade I had planned. I don't want mine to even look like there might stuff worth stealing... - Mike - 12-29-2008 my wheels! fuckin a... some black integra seats, some beat blades, and used suspension? christ... is jail time really worth $500? surprising they didn't bother with your tails. yep, that seat is from a 92-95 civic. any insurance update? - navin - 12-29-2008 Jay, is the car an RS? And if you wanted too, can you find how much the buyback is? - Evan - 12-29-2008 the irony is that Jason couldnt even give away the beige interior that he took out - navin - 12-29-2008 Not really the hottest commodity, I swapped over all my grey interior from the current civic to black from the older one. Honda fanboi's love us some black interior..! - Sijray21 - 12-29-2008 Mike Wrote:any insurance update? not yet, but i'll post up any updates here oddly enough there was another white integra sitting next to it in the same lot, as well as a black civic hatch - all missing interiors and missing wheels or having mis-matched wheels navin Wrote:Jay, is the car an RS? And if you wanted too, can you find how much the buyback is? The car is an RS. I'll find out the buyback after all the paperwork is finished. This would actually be a great dedicated track-car candidate since there is a lack of ABS, lack of sunroof, axles replaced < 20k ago, driver's side wheel bearing replaced < 20k ago, water pump, tension pulley, and timing belt replaced <20k ago. I didn't find any rust on the car (there may be some behind the passenger-side rear quarter panel) and I did notice some cracks in the seam welds behind the driver's seat when i drilled the holes for the bolt-in roll bar (not huge, but could turn into a problem). if you or anyone is interested in buying this thing then let me know and know that you'll need to have it towed or fix it on the spot where ever it lies since it's not driveable. I didn't look at the steering column, but that could also be damaged. Evan Wrote:the irony is that Jason couldnt even give away the beige interior that he took out haha, are there pieces left in the workshop? - Mike - 12-29-2008 yes, please post buyback info here. my bid is $1 more than what navin can afford. - navin - 01-02-2009 fuck you collins. |
