oooooooof. bet that wasn't in the budget Sad

- PDenbigh - 12-31-2008

Three letters:

D I Y

And put all but ~$30ish of that quote in savings!

- Scott - 12-31-2008

sounds like something that should be covered by Lotus

+1.

With such a nice car, I don't know if I would trust someone else to work on it.

- Feersty - 01-01-2009

That is crazy. $2500? Got to pay to play my man. Your car is impeccable though.

- JustinG - 01-01-2009

warranty???

- Madden - 01-01-2009

No warranty, it expired like 2 months ago.
I was thinking about trying to do it myself, but I'm leaving until the 11th and school starts on the 12th. Plus I'm kinda iffy about trying it myself and waiting on the parts. The guys at Criswell work on all the lotus's in the area so I definitely trust them. Guess I just gotta cough up the cash and work a little harder this semester

- Chris - 01-01-2009

yeah F that... something doesn't sound right at all.

- Ginger - 01-01-2009

+ Juan, that's absurd.

- WRXtranceformed - 01-01-2009

OUCH man!!

- John - 01-26-2009

Just noticed this thread today - sent you a PM.

Don't bother with the dealer, unless you want to subject yourself to the "Lotus tax" for things like $350 oil changes. Pick up the manual and learn to wrench on it yourself - you'll need to learn anyways as the cars are tempermental.

J, who has gone through many headaches with his, but still enjoys the drive.

- Evan - 01-26-2009

where do you live?

there is a shop that specializes in british cars in Falls Church.

- Madden - 02-05-2009

The loats been sleeping lately and I'm going out of my mind not being able to drive. Here are some little projects that have kept me busy.

First up my amp was just floating around in my trunk, and using up the minimal trunk space. I could even fit a kidnapped midget in...

I am taking a metals class this year so it dawned on me that I could use the shop to my advantage. I worked on a bracket the bolted up to the taillights and pre-existing holes in the bottom of the trunk. Lots of measuring, but some how it fit perfect. Here is the progression, it fits clean and I sprayed some black krylon on it to go into stealth mode...

Next up is the battery cutoff. Since the car wasnt getting driving for a while I figured I'd make my life a little easier and put the cutoff on...

The stock engine bay looks pretty weak, figured I'd paint the covers to make it look a little better.
Before...

After...

Hoping to get some driving in next week, I'm praying for rain to wash away this aluminum eating hell salt

Nice work on painting the covers, looks like they were meant to look that way.

- WRXtranceformed - 02-05-2009

That engine cover looks really good! I was expecting some graffiti painting on it though, I'm not gonna lie Tongue

Maybe you should consider marketing that to the Lotus community. I bet a lot of guys would pay to have their engine covers color-matched like that.

- Jake - 02-05-2009

Those covers look awesome - very factory look. +1 to everyone who said you could make money painting others' to look that good.

OhAndPS - Where do you live that has a garage? Looks swanky.

- Madden - 02-05-2009

I live across from copper beach, right off reservoir st. next to avalon woods. The garage is about as small as possible, but I'm pretty pumped to have one
