- JessicaRabbit79 - 07-29-2004 Feersty Wrote:Are cell phones really worth it? I gave up on land lines about half-way through my time at JMU. I just got sick and tired of the bad service and whatnot... I've used a cell phone as my only phone since then. (This way I'm only getting pissed off by ONE service provider, instead of them + another company for land line) - Dragon - 07-29-2004 I have used a cell phone as my main phone since I graduated from HS, only time I had a land line since then was if I was living in an apt that required it to ring people in, or if I was living with someone else that had a land line. I've had Sprint, Nextel, and AT&T, I'm most happy with Sprint. Sure their low end phones suck balls, but I don't buy the low end phones. I rely on this thing as my primary means of contact for everything so I pay a lil more to get a better phone I can trust. It also helps that I get a 25% discount on my service with Sprint through my company. - Mike - 07-29-2004 i was always against cell phones and took pride in being the last person i knew without one... then i got a decent internship sophmore year in college so i decided to "splurge" on one. i picked up a nokia w/ cingular service on their cheapest plan, 30/mo for 200 anytime minutes and like 1000 nights/weekends. that phone started going haywire so i took it back to cingular and theyr replaced it with the same model. that one too went haywire so i went back again and was told i was out of warranty so i decided to start a new plan, 40/mo for 350 anytime (+ rollover) and 2500 nights/weekends. i now have a samsung phone and i'm pretty happy for it. review of cingular: great coverage everywhere i've been (except in the basement of jessica's house in the woods...) i get a slight signal at summit - enough to make a call. call quality locally has been rather poor as of late (echos, picking up other calls), and i've been told it was a tower upgrade that'd be done in a month.. it has been more than a few. oh well, i'm happy with them and have no reason to change when my current plan is up. oh yeah, i no longer use land lines anymore... - JackoliciousLegs - 08-02-2004 ![]() Just bought this bling... Suncom good with extra antenna for car - NASAlaura - 08-02-2004 Chris and I use Suncom with basic Nokia phones. 1500 minutes for Chris for $95 a month and includes all of the East Coast. Service is good except for at the tracks!! We purchased an antenna from Radio Shack for about $35 about 2 NASA events ago and now we get service at all the tracks and pretty much everywhere but you of course have to use the phone in the car. We have never had a problem with our Nokia phones except having to get a new battery and these are the free phones that came with the plan 4-5 years ago. Laura C. - Mike - 08-02-2004 i think laura just said we can get in her car to make our cell calls at the track! - NASAlaura - 08-02-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:i think laura just said we can get in her car to make our cell calls at the track!
