im not gonna purchase anything til i have a job, which will hopefully be in a couple of weeks after i finish up this interview process. Then ill be able to hopefully get a DD for around 22k or so. I feel like pullin up in the moneypit is a tad inappropriate, I already told you this. SOME OF US DON'T GET A FREE CAR FROM CHRYSLER THAT'S "BAWLIN".
I want a reliable DD that can get what I need done, done, and is comfy/nice.

yep, spending lots of money on a daily is retarded. get something reliable, comfy, and good on gas... nice cars are such a waste... not to say i'll never have a nice car again, but saving money/blowing it in other areas is a lot more fun.

I know you said to try not an convince you otherwise but I'd recommend a hatch with seats that fold. I own a home and make monthly trips to the hardware store and haven't really needed anything bigger than the wife's Mazda3. It can haul a shit ton of crap, can fit large things because of easy access hatch and get twice the mileage of a truck or SUV. What you save on gas will easily let you rent a $19 truck from Home Depot for that one time a year you want to haul 33 bags of mulch.

this is so true.
our xterra sees some offroad duty from time to time and Jen likes how beastly it is but otherwise, i wish we had a wagon. anything that's so big we need a truck bed, i just borrow a truck from a sucke...i mean, friend. :lol: this is the same reason my dad sold his TRD Tacoma. it was an awesome truck but the neighbors drove it more than he did, to pick up a 2x4 or some sand once a year. the one time he hauled mulch in it for our beds, he found out in the end it would have been cheaper just to get a dumptruck load delivered. there was no point to it. even in snow the cars were equal.
anyway, you want a truck....get the frontier, they will hold value good, are a nice compromise in size, have a kick ass engine and a pretty nice dealer network (we like our nissan dealer)

There was a decent one on CL down here in Charlotte, and a few others... I'll occasionally search Toyota trucks because I'd like to snag a cheap one eventually. I've loved every Toyota truck I've ever owned. Do a quick search in this area and you'll probably see it turn up... if you're willing to drive this far.

I just like to do some research on peoples opinions. I finally got one from someone who actually owns a house. Ive always loved audi/bmw wagons and those can be had for a descent price.....

I've had both a BMW and an Audi and love them both... but I sold them after the warranty was up. I'd lean towards and older BMW before an Audi but both may end up with some maintenance issues down the line. I tend to think the cost of maintenance is over-hyped and it's nothing that bad if you do the work yourself... but the question is more about reliability. Since it's your DD, you want it to start the first time, every time and you may not get that with an Audi or BMW in your price range.
A CPO A3 might work, but I haven't seen their interior to know what it can haul. I'd probably echo the WRX wagon sentiment from John. If my wife didn't have a hatch, that's probably what I would have ended up with.
Contrary to the general public's opinion, sport hatches are infinity cooler than any SUV and are (almost) as useful.
