Several weeks of waiting, and body shop time and... it goes back to the body shop next week to fix it again, so still not resolved. Many doctor/chiropractor/physical therapy appointments and I'm mostly healed up, but I've burned half my annual leave dealing with shit. - HAULN-SS - 04-04-2008 That's pretty lame. Sucks they didnt total it. Should've taken a wrapped BFH to it to finish it off. - .RJ - 04-04-2008 I should've bought one of those 10,000 lb ratcheting straps and put a crease in teh frame... - HAULN-SS - 04-04-2008 yeah that too - or really, just knocked some paint off the frame. I think that's evidence enough of buckling. - drivesideways46 - 04-04-2008 Is the truck still for sale? - .RJ - 04-04-2008 drivesideways46 Wrote:Is the truck still for sale? It'll be for sale again once its finally fixed up. The body shop did a 100% job on the door skins, bed and paint - everything was fixed, and it looks and drives very well, but the rocker panel repair should've been done better and the door lock/latches need adjusting so its going back. - HAULN-SS - 04-04-2008 Was it better to fix it like that, or sell it at salvage and pocket the 6 grand? - .RJ - 04-04-2008 I didnt really have the option... the initial estimate was way under, and then it has to go to the body shop for a tear down, another estimate, and another check. - drivesideways46 - 04-04-2008 It's stories like these that make my resolution to only drive used cars that much stronger. Both of my current cars have been the victims of "bump and run" behavior from lane-changing idiots, I'd have been apoplectic if it had happened in a brand new car! It gets easier when it's "just another dent". It is pretty sad when you have to assume nearly all drivers are total morons, and it's a rare treat to be in the presence of a signaling, courteous, attentive driver. - Chris - 04-04-2008 wow Dave, what a complete idiot. you really do have bad luck with this shit. I got in the habit during my 8+ years of driving my very small del sol to throw the hazards on when I had any suspicion of someone running up behind me. I especially to this on the highway when people start getting on the brakes hard. I also use my highbeams and horn a lot! I fucking hate when people in trucks (even still to this day in my SUV) run up in the right lane to get around cars in the left lane and cut you off just to save a few seconds. I had a guy do this to me the other morning when there were cars in both lanes for a mile in front of me. asshole nearly side swiped me. - Evan - 04-04-2008 i just got ran into in a parking garage, my horn blaring the whole time. at least geico sucks fat fucking D and I have to go to one of their adjusters just to get an estimate - .RJ - 04-04-2008 Friday is stupid driver day in nova. Dunno why... but I noticed it after commuting on the bike for a while. - Andy - 04-04-2008 Evan Wrote:i just got ran into in a parking garage, my horn blaring the whole time. The most rewarding part is that they lowball the estimates. - ScottyB - 04-05-2008 this reminds me, i need to install an unecessarily loud horn - Evan - 04-05-2008 Andy Wrote:Fantastic. Something to look forward to.Evan Wrote:i just got ran into in a parking garage, my horn blaring the whole time. does anyone know how that works? if i go to my bodyshop and get an estimate and its more than their estimate, do they have to pay that amount? or am i just fucked? - .RJ - 04-05-2008 The body shop sends them a supplemental estimate, and the insurance company cuts them a check. - John - 04-05-2008 Evan Wrote:i just got ran into in a parking garage, my horn blaring the whole time. They might say that, but I'm pretty certain you can take it to the body shop of YOUR choice and have them arrange the estimate with Geico. The initial estimate is always low since there are so many people who end up pocketing the check. |
