you'll never have the system fully dry... like a toilet, when you flush it there will always be some of the old water in there until the flush is complete. it helps to use two different colors of fluid so you can tell when you have completely flushed out the old.

I would like suggest using the baster to get the old fluid out of the master cylinder before you start bleeding. Makes it quicker and lessens the old/new fluid mixing.

If you have enough time, I would remove the reservoir and clean it out. You'll not only get old fluid out but any other garbage that might be in there as well.
