That is absolutely brilliant. I'd vote for that law.

With the behemoths on the road these days, motorcycles could go like infinity.

So, because idiots can't control themselves behind the wheel, everybody should suffer? How about fixing the problem and not the symptom? Regulation for regulation's sake is silly.

i think the new liter bikes... $10-13k with 200hp and 400lbs wet means all is right with the world.

But even then, the momentum law wouldn't comepnsate for "idiot causes domino effect" effect. How about we just make it harder for idiots to get, renew, and keep their licenses?

Your people dont stand a chance if that happened!

- Ginger - 01-09-2008

It's funny how you use terms "bollocks", and "rubbish" in every day conversation, but then break out Eurotrash.

thats fine. many of them dont deserve to have licenses. stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. because they're true. my mom is one of the worst drivers i've ever seen.

- Kaan - 01-09-2008

Wink i might lose my license if those laws went into effect as well!

G.Irish Wrote:You'd have to talk about the exact externalities imposed by a given vehicle to be fair. An SUV or truck uses a lot more gas, emits more CO2, puts more wear on the road, takes up more space causing more traffic, and endangers other drivers more than the average sports car. On paper it seems like an ultra fast car is a public menace but in reality it is hardly a factor.

Agreed but in large numbers, resources can't/won't meet demand for everyone to have a large SUV so resource price goes up driving up purchase prices along with cost of maintenance which reduce demand.

Small luxury niche products don't follow that curve.

Scotty-Idiots make money too. They can also have kids. Also rich, smart people are also able to produce idiot children so there.

My thought with super high HP cars is that the HPnumbers can't be used safely/legally so why produce something like that? So if it can't be used legally/safely, why is it produced?
Warning:I don't apply this logic to alcohol, cigarettes or the like.

I'm only saying that 300 or 550HP's is all the same to 99% of the populace, but the costs to society curve is much steeper once 300ish HP's is reached.

Why not?

Is it not the buyers responsibility to be, you know, responsible with what he has? And if he isn't, is he not punished?

For the record, Germany "chastised" BMW when they made the 2002Tii, said it was "irresponsible" of the manufacturer to sell it, because it was so fast.

We can all see what good it did.

sweet jeebus! i hadn't heard the new final numbers...but that car is pure sex. With all these ridiculous choices on the horizon, I don't know why anyone wouldn't buy domestic. There's good shit in every price range

- Ginger - 01-09-2008

I don't understand why you think this is your perogotive to regulate. Your problem isn't the cars, it's the drivers. If I want a 500hp car, I don't see any legitimate reason that I can't have one... if you want to go down the road of questioning my rationale you're travelling down a slippery slope. It's not the government's business what I do with my things if it doesn't break any laws.

Most motorcycles produced will dwarf most cars perforamance numbers... should I not be allowed to own one? I've never gotten a ticket for misbehavior. That, and my use of my 45+mpg toys is more friendly on the environment than my 20mpg truck.
