Don't worry about crapmax. The ragging out of cars there is few and far between... and generally limited to the rare cars. EVOs probly site like ducks on the lot there now. When they were new, the staff was having a field day with them. Basically, don't worry about a couple miles. I mean hey, it's not an M5... or even a wrx.

Oh, and it is my experience that in general, dealers won't order cars unless it's something a little more rare.... or high end. i.e. civics and Mazda 3s probly don't qualify.

Oh, and definitely wait for the car you want. DEFINITELY.

Or an M3...

The dealer can do one of several things in getting the car you want.

1. Wait for something in his allotment to come in that meets your desires
2. Dealer exchange with another dealership to get what you want
3. Order from the factory the car that you want

Naturally bigger dealerships have more leeway in this department as well as online car sales (carsdirect.com for instance).

Reed you can't wait another year until you graduate to get a car? Won't you have seem serious dough by then?

- JackoliciousLegs - 07-12-2004

Autoweek:
Best Economy Car: Mazda 3
Best First Car: Honda Civic

You won't go wrong with either.

back to the topic at hand b/c threads always get jacked here :-p

REED Wrote:hey guys i just wanted to know how you guys felt about these cars

1. honda civic sedan
2. honda civic coupe
3. honda civic Si (EP3)
4. honda accord coupe(last body style)
5. mazda 3
6. VW Gti
7. acura RSX(nontypeS)

as of right now it looks like are 15,000 or 250 a month or something like that, i need something safe and reliability is very important, it also needs to be able to get me from RI to VA with at least most of my shit....my parents are really set on the civic, probly the sedan, but i want something a little more "sporty" (i hate using that word), it may even see some autoX action. obviously the acura, Gti and Si are at the top end of my price range. o and we are looking around august for this, so any help would be appreciated.....

i honestly believe the mazda 3 hatch ( what i think looks better and will store more of ur stuff ) will suit you the best. It has a nice overall package and i think that the aftermarket for the car will be decent. Auto-xing it could be very fun too if you don't plan on doing it heavily. for the mazda 3 hatch

insurance will probably be less on the 3 also.

and the interior:

- JackoliciousLegs - 07-14-2004

 for the rx8 style interior....

- REED - 07-14-2004

acctually that IS the RX-8 interior...trust me if the 3s interior looked that good i would be in one now.

as of right now they are both in a dead heat. I think the downfall of the mazda is that it is based on the focus, and i think my dad will refuse anything with any sort of domestic lineage (sp?)

i drove the Si and really liked it, the shifter would take some getting used to, and i dont like how the headunit is angles away from the driver (glare problems) the Si was exceptionally quite, much more so than i thought a civic could be.

once i find a 5speed 3 in RI ill test drive it and see how it feels

opps, my bad it is, lol.

i'm not a real big fan of domestics, but the focus isn't a bad car at all, i have much respect for it.

here's the right interior:

lol I was about to say the same thing

Other way around. The next generation focus will be based on the Mazda 3 platform. And even so, the original Focus was entirely developed by Ford Europe.

- Feersty - 07-14-2004

The Mazda3 interior is very appealing. I saw it up close at the Washington Auto Show.

either way it is part ford and thats a thumbs down in my book, another thing i thought of is this is the first year of the 3, and with that are going to be all the problems assoicated with first year cars that i dont want to deal with......man i hate having to decide on these things, things would be so much easier if i could afford an RX-8

Go drive the car. There's nothing bean-counter cost-cutter ergonomic-disaster ford about it.

- Mike - 07-15-2004

Yeah, what he said. I was very impressed by the 3 from the passenger seat at a recent Auto-X.

- JackoliciousLegs - 07-15-2004

Just saw a 3 up close... it's hot man. And it's a mazda... which one would be cheaper... all included?
