Maaco does a good job, just prep it yourself and don't let them do ANY bodywork.

That's the key. Make sure you do all the prep work yourself. Remove all your lights, etc, etc, and tell them to spray.

Evan's car still looks great 8 (?) months later.

If you do it correctly it should last quite a long time as you'll remove the layer of oxidation from the surface of the paint.

I wonder how my car looked so good then since the oxidation was still there. The first time I had it done it was a professional job and it came back.

I guess it really depends on the extent of the damage. Buffing is certainly worth a try in any case.

I agree...my car needed zero body work all they had to do was scratch and paint.

it holds up pretty good, but you should plan on buffing it once a year with some light cutting polish and try to keep wax on it. (but that goes for any car with single stage paint imo)

Actually, technically I'm the fag for taking the picture and devoting my time to making a faggy picture in PS out of it.

Anyhoo, I'd be curious to see the results of all this Andy. I'm sure with a fresh paintjob your car will be looking pretty sharp.

It takes two fags to tango.

- Andy - 10-23-2007

Wow. An MR2 guy sent me this pic of his car. I think I might need RJ for some of this magic.

i think you should do that same thing by polishing half the car and rock the mazdadrivers event like that.

You should just claybar your race number into the door and onto the hood.....

That's the thing. I've claybarred the car as well as clean/polish/wax the thing. After the first rain, it's back to pink.

- Evan - 10-23-2007

well andy you have a LOT of oxidation to cut through before you get to healthy paint. takes some good machinery to do it.

but lets paint dat bish in my backyard anyway

- .RJ - 10-23-2007

Andy if you want to buy some claybar and buffer pads then I'll hook you up - I dont have any right now, and taking out that kind of oxidation will trash them. I've got the buffer and supplies.
